A RESOLUTION APPOINTING THREE (3) INDIVIDUALS
AND CONFIRMING THE APPOINTMENT OF ONE (1)
INDIVIDUAL TO SERVE AS MEMBER OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI AFFIRMATIVE ACTibN ADVISORY BOARD FOR A
TERM OF OFFICE AS DESIGNATED HEREIN.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI,
FLORIDA:
Section 1. The following individuals are hereby
appointed to serve as member of the City of Miami Affirmative
Action Advisory Board for a term of office expiring June 1, 1997:

RECOMMENDATION:
It is respectfully recommended that the City Commission adopt the
attached resolution authorizing the appointment of three (3)
individuals and confirming the appointment of one (1) individual
to serve on the Affirmative Action Advisory Board.
BACKGROUND:
The Department of Personnel Management, Equal Opportunity/
Diversity Programs Division, respectfully requests the
appointment of three (3) individuals and the confirmation of one
(1) individual to the Affirmative Action Advisory Board. Females
and Hispanics are underrepresented on 'the Board, comprising 300
and 400, compared to 45o and 66%, respectively, of the City of
Miami's labor force.
Commissioners Plummer and Dawkins each have one (1) appointment.
Commissioner Plummer's previous appointment, Scott Warfman,
missed three (3) consecutive meetings and was removed in
accordance with Ordinance 11130, Section 2-430 Attendance
requirement. Commissioner Gort's prior appointment, Laura Perez,
declined the appointment. The Laborers' International Union of
North America, Local Union No. 800, AFL-CIO, has also appointed
Mayshack Lane as their Board representative.
These appointments are in accordance with adopted Ordinance
11130, Sec. 2-428, Membership on Boards.
