A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO
PROCURE THE NECESSARY SERVICES) TO REPAIR
THE ROOF, REPAIR/REPLACE THE DOWNSPOUT
DRAINAGE SYSTEM AND PAINT THE MAN(JEL ARTIME
COMMUNITY THEATER AND CENTER, LOCATED AT 900
AND 970 S. W. 1ST STREET, MIAMI, FLORIDA,
RESPECTIVELY, AT A TOTAL ESTIMATED COST OF
$100,000; ALLOCATING FUNDS THEREFOR AS
PREVIOUSLY APPROPRIATED BY CAPITAL
IMPROVEMENT ORDINANCE NO. 11205, AS AMENDED,
FROM PROJECT NO. 322060; FURTHER AUTHORIZING
THE CITY MANAGER TO ACCEPT THE BIDS) FOR
SAID REPAIRS FROM THE MOST RESPONSIVE AND
RESPONSIBLE BIDDER(S) UPON RECEIPT OF FORMAL
COMPETITIVE SEALED BIDS.
WHEREAS, the City of Miami owns the Manuel Artime Community
Theater and Center, located at 900 SW 1st Street and 970 SW 1st
Street, Miami, Florida, respectively; and
WHEREAS, these buildings are deteriorating due to roof
leaks, downspout drainage problems, window leaks and water
�. seepage through the walls; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission deems it to be in the best

interest of the City of Miami to immediately procure the
necessary services for these repairs in order to prevent further
deterioration of the buildings and to protect the safety and
welfare of the City's tenants and residents; and

WHEREAS, funds to cover the cost of these repairs are
available from funds previously appropriated by Capital
Improvement Ordinance No. 11205, as amended, Project No. 322060;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the
Preamble to this Resolution are hereby adopted by reference
thereto and incorporated herein as if fully set forth in this
Section.
Section 2. The City Manager is hereby authorized to
_procure the necessary services to repair the roof, repair/replace
the downspout drainage system and paint the Manual Artime
Community Theater and Center, located at 900 and 970 S.W. 1st
Street, Miami, Florida, respectively, at a total estimated cost
of $100,000, with funds therefor hereby allocated from funds
previously appropriated by Capital Improvement Ordinance No.
11205, as amended, Project No. 322060.
Section 3. The City Manager is further authorized to
accept the bid(s) for said repairs from the most responsive and
responsible bidder(s) upon receipt of formal competitive sealed
bids.
Section 4. This Resolution shall become effective
immediately upon its adoption.

RECOMMENDATION:
It is respectfully recommended that the City Commission adopt the
attached Resolution authorizing the City Manager to take all steps
necessary to repair the roof, repair/replace the downspout drainage
system and paint the Manuel Artime Community Center, located at 900
and 970 SW 1 Street, Miami, Florida, at a total estimated cost of
$100,000; allocating funds therefor as previously appropriated by
Capital Improvements Ordinance No. 11205, as amended, from Project
No. 322060; further authorizing the City Manager to accept the
bid(s) for said repairs from the most responsive and responsible
bidder(s) following receipt of formal competitive sealed bids.
BACKGROUND:
The Office of Asset Management and Capital Improvements has
prepared the attached item for consideration by the Commission.
The City of Miami owns the Manuel Artime Community Theater and
Center located at 900 SW 1 Street and 970 SW 1 Street, Miami,
Florida, respectively. These buildings are deteriorating due to
roof leaks, downspout drainage problems, window leaks and water
seepage through the walls.
It is recommended that the City Commission adopt the attached
resolution in order to prevent further deterioration of the
buildings, alleviate potential safety hazards and to protect the
safety and welfare of the City's tenants and residents.
