A RESOLUTION AMENDING RESOLUTION NO. 94-755,
ADOPTED OCTOBER 27, 1994, WHICH RESOLUTION
ESTABLISHED CRITERIA AND PROCEDURES FOR
NEWSPAPERS WHICH CITY DEPARTMENTS AND OFFICES
ARE PERMITTED TO USE FOR PUBLISHING PUBLIC
NOTICES AND FURTHER LISTED THE NAMES OF THE
ONLY NEWSPAPERS APPROVED FOR SAID USE,
THEREBY ADDING "LA PRENSA DE MIAMI" TO SAID
LIST OF NEWSPAPERS, CONDITIONED UPON
COMPLIANCE WITH ALL REQUIREMENTS THAT MAY BE
IMPOSEDBY THE FLORIDA STATUTES AND ALL
APPLICABLE CITY CHARTER AND CODE PROVISIONS.
WHEREAS, Resolution No. 94-755, adopted October 27, 1994,
established certain criteria for . newspapers which City
departments and offices are permitted to use for publishing
public notices and further listed the names of certain newspapers
to be used for such notices; and
WHEREAS, Motion No. 94-773, adopted by the City Commission
on October 27, 1994, instructed that "La Prensa de Miami" be
included amongst the designated newspapers to be used by the City
for publishing of public notices, subject to said newspaper
complying with the City's eligibility requirements; and

WHEREAS, the Procurement Division of the Department of
General Services Administration/Solid Waste has reviewed the
application of "La Prensa de Miami" and has ascertained that said
newspaper meets the criteria established by the City of Miami for
public notice advertisements; and
WHEREAS, it is necessary to amend Resolution No. 94-755 to
reflect the inclusion of "La Prensa de Miami" as a newspaper to
be used by City departments to advertise public notices;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the
Preamble to this Resolution are hereby adopted by reference
thereto and incorporated herein as if fully set forth in this
Section.
Section 2. Resolution No. 94-755, adopted October 27,
1994, is hereby amended in the following particulars:)
Section 4. Effective October 28, 1994, all City
departments and offices are hereby instructed to use only the
following newspapers for publishing public notices, absent any
legal emergency requiring placement of such notices elsewhere;
such usage for placement of courtesy notices; i.e., those notices
which are not legally required to be advertised, are required to
be submitted to applicable publications by City departments on a
rotational and equitable basis; all newspapers are hereby required
at all times to meet criteria and procedures established in
Section 3 hereinabove:
Words and/or figures stricken through shall be deleted. Underscored words and/or figures shall be added.
The remaining provisions are now in effect and remain unchanged. Asterisks indicate omitted and
unchanged material.

At the Commission meeting of October 27, 1994, the City Commission passed Motion 94-773
(copy attached) instructing that "La Prensa de Miami be included with the newspapers used by
the City for publishing advertisements, subject to said newspaper complying with the City's
Procurement Division eligibility requirements. On April 17, 1995, Judy Carter, Chief
Procurement Officer, wrote a letter to Mr. Cabrera, Editor/Director of "La Prensa de Miami,"
(copy attached) informing him that his newspaper meets the City criteria.
It is now in order for the City Commission to pass a resolution, amending R-94-641 (copy
attached) to include "La Prensa de Miami" as one of the newspapers which City departments
and offices are permitted to use for publishing public notices. By copy of this memorandum to
the Agenda Office, we are requesting that this item be placed on the July 13, 1995 Commission
meeting agenda.
