RESOLUTION NO. 9 5" 472
A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE FUNDING OF ARISE
FOUNDATION'S "ENVIRO-COPS" PROGRAM IN AN
AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $12,500; ALLOCATING
FUNDS THEREFOR FROM THE LAW ENFORCEMENT TRUST
FUND, SUCH EXPENDITURE HAVING BEEN CERTIFIED
BY THE CHIEF OF POLICE AS COMPLYING WITH
FLORIDA STATE STATUTE, CHAPTER 932.7055, AS
AMENDED.
WHEREAS, Florida State Statute 932.7055, as amended,
authorizes the expenditure of forfeiture proceeds for anti -drug
education, anti -crime education and law enforcement purposes not
considered normal operating expenses; and
WHEREAS, the City of Miami Police Department believes that
it is imperative that we give our youth a positive incentive
program; and
WHEREAS, ARISE Foundation will provide children attending
summer camp at City of. Miami Parks Department facilities with
useful information about firearms, graffiti prevention, and drug
law; and
WHEREAS, ARISE will provide mentor training through their
"Enviro-Cops" Program, to City of Miami police officers and
recreational specialists; and

WHEREAS, the Chief of Police has recommended adoption of
this resolution and has determined that the expenditures proposed
comply with Florida State Statute 932.7055, as amended; and
WHEREAS, funds to cover the necessary expenses required for
this program are available in. the City of Miami Law Enforcement
Trust Fund;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the
Preamble to this Resolution are hereby adopted by reference
thereto and incorporated herein as if fully set forth in this
Section.
Section 2. The funding of ARISE Foundation's "Enviro-
Cops" program, in the amount of $12,500, is hereby approved with
funds therefor hereby allocated from the City of Miami Law
Enforcement Trust Fund, Project No. 690001m Index Code
029002-247, such expenditure having been certified by the Chief
of Police as complying with Florida State Statutes, Chapter
932.7055, as amended.
Section 3. This Resolution shall become effective
immediately upon its adoption.

of AMSE Foundation
-It is respectfully recommended that a Resolution funding ARISE
Foundation's "Enviro-Copt" programp at a cost not to exceed
$12,500, be approved. Funding is to be from the Law Enforcement
Trust Fund.
BACKGROUNDS
ARISE Foundation's "Enviro-Cops" program will provide children
attending summer camp at City of Miami Parks Department
facilities with useful information about firearms, graffiti
prevention, drug twareness and with important lessons on topics
such as...Police Officers are youx Friends.... The Foundation
will provide mentor training to City of Miami police officers and
recreational specialists. Materials such as the Enviro-Caps
manual., audio tapes, posters-, stickers, pledge cards, coloring
books and success Logs will also be provided by the Foundation.
The Foundations additionally, has developed logos specific to the
Miami Police Department which will be placed on materials used
during the program.
It is, therefore, recommended that the Resolution authorizing the
funding of ARISE Foundation's "Enviro-Cops" program, at a cost
not to exceed $12,500, funding to be from the Law Enforcement
Trust Fund, Project No. 690001, Index 'Code 029002-247, be
approved.
