A RESOLUTION POSTPONING A PUBLIC HEARING, ORIGINALLY SCHEDULED FOR MAY 11, 1995, PURSUANT TO RESOLUTION NO. 95-99, TO A DATE TO BE DETERMINED BY THE CITY MANAGER; SAID PUBLIC HEARING TO TAKE TESTIMONY REGARDING A DRAFT REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS ("RFP") FOR A UNIFIED DEVELOPMENT PROJECT ("UDP") CONSISTING OF THE DEVELOPMENT OF A SPECIALTY BOTANICAL GARDEN ATTRACTION ON CITY -OWNED WATERFRONT PROPERTY LOCATED ON THE NORTHEAST SIDE OF WATSON ISLAND IN MIAMI, FLORIDA. WHEREAS, on February 9, 1995, pursuant to Resolution No. 95-99, the City Commission declared a UDP, the development of a specialty botanical garden attraction on City -owned waterfront property located, on the northeast side of Watson Island, Miami, Florida, in the vicinity of the Japanese Garden and the Miami Yacht Club; and WHEREAS, pursuant to the aforementioned Resolution, it was determined that said UDP shall consist of an integrated package from the private sector that includes planning, design, construction, leasing and management of the proposed improvements; and ,.CITY COMMISSION MEETING OF MAY 1 1 1995 Resolution No. 95- a88 1M WHEREAS, Resolution No. 95-99 further authorized the City Manager to prepare i an RFP and scheduled a public hearing for May 11, 1995, at 10:00 a.m. to consider the contents of the RFP; and WHEREAS, the survey and the two required appraisals of the property have not been completed at this time, preventing the draft RFP to be finalized, and resulting in the public hearing to be postponed to a later date; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. he recitals and findings set forth in the Preamble to this Resolution are hereby adopted by reference thereto and incorporated herein as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. A Public Hearing originally scheduled for May 11, 1995 at 10:00 a.m., pursuant to Resolution No. 95-99 for May 11, 1995 at 10:00 a.m. is hereby postponed to a date to be determined by the City Manager, Section 3. Pursuant to the aforementioned Resolution, a Public Hearing will be scheduled to take testimony regarding a draft RFP for a UDP consisting of the development of a specialty botanical garden attraction on City -owned waterfront property located on the northeast side of Watson Island in Miami, Florida. BACKGROUND: The Department of Development recommends that the City Commission adopt the attached Resolution in order to postpone the public hearing scheduled for May 11, 1995 to consider the contents of the RFP for the development of the aforementioned City -owned property. On February 9, 1995, pursuant to Resolution No. 95-9' , the City Commission declared a L,ufied Development Project ("UDP"), the development of a specialty botanical garden attraction on City -owned waterfront property located on the northeast side of Watson Island in Miami. Resolution No. 95-99 further authorized the City Manager to prepare a Request for Proposals ("RFP") and scheduled a public hearing for May 11, 1995 to consider the contents of the RFP, all in accordance with City of Miami Charter Section 29-A(c) and City Code Section 18.52.9. It has become necessary to postpone the public hearing because the survey and the two required appraisals of the property for this UDP have not been completed at this time, preventing the draft RFP from being finalized. At such time when all the information is acquired for the RFP, then the City Manager shall schedule the public hearing. Attachment: Proposed Resolution 95- 388 ;_.
