A RESOLUTION ACCEPTING TWO (2) GRANTS, IN THE AMOUNTS OF $45,000 EACH, FROM THE STATE OF FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION UNDER THE SPECIAL WATERWAY i PROJECTS PROGRAM FOR DOCK RENOVATIONS AT I LEGION PARK AND A DOCK FACILITY AT MORNINGSIDE PARK; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE THE NECESSARY DOCUMENTS, I IN A FORM ACCEPTABLE TO THE CITY ATTORNEY, TO I ACCEPT THE GRANTS AND IMPLEMENT THE PROJECTS. i i WHEREAS, the Parks and Recreation Department had submitted applications to the State of Florida, Department of Environmental Protection ("DEP°), seeking grant funds under the Special Waterway Projects Program for dock renovations at Legion Park and a dock facility at Morningside Park; and WHEREAS, said Program provides funds for projects that serve public boating needs, such as channel markings, launching facilities or mooring buoys; and WHEREAS, said Grants will provide the funding necessary for dock renovations at Legion Park and for the construction of a dock facility at Morningside Park; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: CITY C01014ISS10H PJ,r—,E's`'itU1G or Resolution No, Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are hereby adopted by reference thereto and incorporated herein as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. Two (2) grants, in the amounts of $45,000 each, are hereby accepted from the State of Florida Department of Environmental Protection under the Special Waterway Projects Program for dock renovations at Legion Park and a dock facility at Morningside Park. Section 3. The City Manager is hereby authorized' to execute the necessary documents, in a form acceptable to the City Attorney, to accept said Grants and implement the projects. Section 4. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption. PASSED AND ADOPTED this 11th day of May 1995. STEP EN P. The legislation would also authorize the City Manager to execute the necessary documents for this purpose. BACKGROUND The Parks and Recreation Department had submitted applications to the Department of Environmental Protection seeking grant funds under the Special Waterway Projects Program for dock renovations at Legion Park, located at 6447 N.E. 7 Avenue, and for the construction of a dock facility at Morningside Park, located at 750 N.E. 55 Terrace. We recently received notice from the State that our grant applications for both of these projects had been approved. Commission action at this time will permit the Administration to proceed with these projects. 95- 354 4mll- i
