HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-95-0328J-95-526 5/11/95 RESOLUTION NO. 9 5- 3 2 8 A RESOLUTION RELATED TO THE PURCHASE OF VISUAL LIGHT SYSTEMS FOR POLICE DEPARTMENT VEHICLES; AMENDING RESOLUTION NO. 95-232, ADOPTED MARCH 27, 1995, TO AUTHORIZE THE PURCHASE OF COMPLETE VISUAL LIGHT SYSTEMS AND ACCESSORIES FOR INSTALLATION ON POLICE VEHICLES, SAID SYSTEMS TO INCLUDE THE PURCHASE OF SMART SIREN LIGHT BARS FROM MORAN EQUIPMENT CORPORATION, AS PREVIOUSLY APPROVED PURSUANT TO RESOLUTION NO. 95-232, FOR A TOTAL PROPOSED AMOUNT OF $156,699.70 FOR THE ENTIRE SYSTEM. WHEREAS, pursuant to Resolution No. 95-232, adopted March 27, 1995, the City Commission authorized the purchase of one hundred (100) Smart Siren Light Bars, under existing City of St. Petersburg Bid No. 4151, from Moran Equipment Corp., in the amount of $55,829.00, and one hundred (100) cages, under an existing .Palm Beach County SherifffIs Bid No. 94-0824-136, from Law Enforcement Supply Company, in the amount of $25,799.00, at a total proposed amount of $81,628.00, for the Police Department, with funds to be allocated from the Sunshine State Governmental Financing Commission Tax Exempt Commercial Paper Revenue Notes; and WHEREAS, said authorization included only the purchase of Smart Sirens, at the amount of $55,829.00, and not the complete Visual Light Systems with accessories which include the sirens, at a total amount of $156,699.00; and CITY COMMISSION MEETING OF, MAY 0 1 1995 Resolution No, 95- 328 WHEREAS, it is necessary to purchase the entire system to properly equip the police vehicles; and WHEREAS, the City Manager and the Assistant City Manager in charge of the Department of General Services Administration and Solid Waste recommend the purchase of complete Visual Light Systems from Moran Equipment Corp.; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are hereby adopted by reference thereto and incorporated herein as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. Resolution No. 95-232, adopted March 27, 1995, is hereby adopted in the following particulars:l/ Section 2. The purchase of one hundred (100) Visual Light Systems and accessories, under a-R existing City of St. Petersburg Bid No. 4151, from Moran Equipment Corp., in the amount of $55,829. _ $156,699.70, and one hundred (100) cages, under an existing Palm Beach County Sheriff's Bid No. 94-0824-136, from Law Enforcement Supply Company, in the amount of $25,799.00, at a total proposed amount of $81,628. $182,498.70, is hereby authorized, with funds therefor hereby allocated from the Sunshine State Governmental Financing Commission Tax Exempt Commercial Paper Revenue Notes. Words and/or figures stricken through shall be deleted. Underscored words and/or figures shall be added. The remaining provisions are now in effect and remain unchanged. No. 95-232 for 100 light bars with sirens and accessories REFERENCES: CCM of April 27, 1995 ENCLOSURES: It is respectfully recommended that the City Commission amend Resolution 95-232 which was passed and approved on March 27, 1995 for one hundred (100) Visual Light Systems (VLS) with their respective speakers, sirens, control boxes and other accessories under an existing City of St. Petersburg bid No. 4151, from Moran Equipment Corporation at a proposed amended cost of $156,699.70. BACKGROUND: The amount of $55,829.00 authorized and approved under Resolution No. 95-232 only included the cost of the Smart Siren, the amended amount of $156,699.70, represents the full value of the complete Visual Light System and accessories. Funds for the purchase of these Visual Light Systems are to be provided from monies received from the Sunshine State Governmental Financing Commission Tax Exempt Commercial Paper Revenue Notes. 95- 328 Pg.,
