HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-95-0312U-95-274 4/13/95 RESOLUTION NO. 95- 312 A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASE OF FIVE (5) K-9 POLICE DOGS FROM METRO-DADE K-9 SERVICES UNDER EXISTING CITY OF MIAMI BEACH BID NO. 3-94/95 FOR A TOTAL PROPOSED AMOUNT OF $20,000 FOR THE DEPARTMENT OF POLICE; ALLOCATING FUNDS THEREFOR FROM SAID DEPARTMENT'S GENERAL OPERATING BUDGET, ACCOUNT CODE NO. 290201-875; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO INSTRUCT THE CHIEF PROCUREMENT OFFICER TO ISSUE PURCHASE ORDERS FOR THIS ACQUISITION. WHEREAS, the Police Department needs to purchase five (5) police dogs under existing City of Miami Beach Bid No. 3-94/95 from Metro -Dade K-9 Services to replace four (4) dogs that need to retire because of age and one (1) dog that died; and WHEREAS, the dogs are used to search for criminal offenders, hidden narcotics and explosive devices; and WHEREAS, funds for this acquisition are available from the Police Department General Operating Budget, Account Code Number 290201-875; and WHEREAS, the City Manager and the Chief of Police recommend the purchase of these canines under an existing City of Miami Beach Bid No. 3-94/95 from Metro -Dade K-9 Services for a total proposed amount of $20,000, be approved; CITY COMMISSION MEET= OF M v 0 9 IP95 Resolution Pdo, 95-- 312 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are hereby adopted by reference thereto and incorporated herein as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. The purchase of five (5) K-9 police dogs from Metro -Dade K-9 Services, under existing City of Miami Beach Bid No. 3-94/95, for a total proposed amount of $20,000, for the Department of Police, is hereby authorized. Section 3. The City Manager is hereby authorized to instruct the Chief Procurement Officer to issue purchase orders for this acquisition. Section 4.
