The Muscular Dystrophy Association respectfully requests to
appear at the Miami City Commission on April 16, At that
time we would like to revisit the issueof the sale of
alcoholic beverages in the event area during the Coconut
Grove Bed Race on May 21, 1995.
The denial of an alcohol permit represents huge losses of
sponsorship dollars normally raised during the Coconut Grove
Bed Race. The money raised at the event benefits Dade
County residents who have been diagnosed with one of 40
neuromuscular diseases included in MDA°s program services.
Services include medical care, assistance with wheelchair
purchases, support groups, summer camp for children with
muscular dystrophy, as well as support of six research
projects currently underway at the University of Miami.
School of Medicine.
we depend on the money raised at the Coconut Grove Bed Race
to allow us to continue these services.
We would really appreciate your placing this request on the
April 15, 1995 Commission agenda. Please let us know if our
request is approved.
Thank you.
