A RESOLUTION APPROVING THE INTERNATIONAL TRADE BOARD ALLOCATION OF $50,000 TO THE SOUTH FLORIDA SOCCER ORGANIZING COMMITTEE FOR 1996, INC., A NOT -FOR -PROFIT ORGANIZATION, FOR THE INTERNATIONAL PROMOTION OF ELEVEN OLYMPIC SOCCER GAMES TO BE PLAYED AT THE ORANGE BOWL STADIUM, JULY 20-JULY 28, 1996 AS PART OF THE GAMES OF THE XXVI OLYMPIAD; ALLOCATING FUNDS THEREFOR FROM THE INTERNATIONAL TRADE BOARD 1994-1995 OPERATING BUDGET. WHEREAS, as part of the Games of the XXVI Olympiad to be held in Atlanta, GA. in 1996 the soccer competition will be played in several satellite cities in the U.S.; and WHEREAS, eleven of the soccer games are scheduled to be played at the Orange Bowl Stadium in Miami July 20 through July 28, 1996; and WHEREAS, the International Trade Board (ITB) is committed to promoting Miami as an international center and recognizes the economic impact and promotional opportunities these games can generate for the City of Miami; and WHEREAS, promotional funds for these internationally televised games are available from the ITB 1994-95 Operating Budget ; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are hereby adopted by reference thereto and incorporated herein as if fully set forth in this Section. An allocation in the amount of $50,000 to the South Florida Soccer Organizing Committee for 1996, Inc, a not -for -profit organization, for the international promotion of eleven Olympic soccer games to be played at the Orange Bowl Stadium, July 20-July 28, 1996 as part of the Games of the XXVI Olympiad, is hereby approved, with funds therefor hereby allocated from the International Trade Board 1994-1995 Operating Budget. jSection 3. Also attached is a Resolution for the City Commission's consideration of ITB's funding allocation which I will introduce at the April 27, 1995 Commission Meeting. WHEREAS, the City of Miami International Trade Board is committed to promoting Miami as an international center and recognizes the economic impact of such event; WHEREAS, said funds for such event will be utilized for promotion of event and subsequently promoting Miami; WHEREAS; the ITB recommends City Commission approval of such funds; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE INTERNATIONAL TRADE BOARD OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1.This Resolution shall become effective immediat)d-l)y upon its adoption PASSED AN A96PI�D this day of 1995.
