HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-95-0288J-95-512 4/27/95 RESOLUTION NO. 95- 288 A RESOLUTION AMENDING RESOLUTION NO. 94-49, ADOPTED JANUARY 27, 1994, RELATED TO THE WAIVER OF RENTAL FEES FOR USE OF AN EXHIBITION HALL IN THE COCONUT GROVE EXHIBITION CENTER FOR THE INTERNATIONAL AMBASSADOR'S FOREIGN EMBASSY TOUR 95 BY CHANGING THE DATE OF SAID EVENT TO MAY 10 - 12, 1995; FURTHER, BY CONDITIONING SAID WAIVER UPON (1) THE EVENT BEING SANCTIONED BY THE STATE DEPARTMENT; (2) THE ORGANIZERS DEPOSITING IN ESCROW WITH THE CITY THE AMOUNT OF $20,000 IN CASH OR IN THE FORM OF A BOND; (3) AT LEAST 30 AMBASSADORS ATTENDING THE EVENT; AND (4) THE CITY BEING REIMBURSED PRIOR TO THE DISBURSEMENT OF ANY PROFITS WHICH MAY BE GENERATED BY SAID EVENT. WHEREAS, the City Commission, at its January 27, 1994 meeting, adopted Resolution No. 94-49 whereby it waived the rental fees for use of an exhibition hall in the Coconut Grove Exhibition Center for the International Ambassador's Foreign Embassy Tour 95 to be held January 23 - 25, 1995; and WHEREAS, due to the celebration of the Summit of the Americas, the International Ambassador's Foreign Embassy Tour had to be postponed; and WHEREAS, the event organizers have appeared before the City Commission to ask that the City Commission amend Resolution No. 94-49 to reflect the change in the dates of the event; and "CITY COVMSSIONf MEETING OF APR 2 7 1995 Resolution No. 95- 288 i WHEREAS, the City Commission finds that it is in the best interest of the City of Miami and its inhabitants to amend Resolution No. 94-49 to reflect the change in the dates of the event and further, to attach certain additional conditions to the waiver granted thereby; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are hereby adopted by reference thereto and incorporated herein as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. Section 2 of Resolution No. 94-49, adopted January 27, 1994, is hereby amended in the following particulars:l/ "Section 2. The rental fees for use of an exhibition hall in the Coconut Grove Exhibition Center are hereby waived for the International Ambassador's Foreign Embassy Tour 95, to be held May 10 - 12, 1995, said waiver subject to (1) free admittance to said exhibition for any schools or students; (2) the provision of a booth at no cost to the City to promote the City of Miami at all twelve host cities of the tour; a-ftd (3) the organizers (a) paying for all necessary costs of City services and applicable fees associated with said event and (b) obtaining insurance to protect the City in the amount as prescribed by the City Manager or his designee, (4) the event being sanctioned by the State Department; (5) the organizers depositing in escrow with the City the amount of $20,000 in cash or in the form of a bond; (6) at least 30 ambassadors attending the event; and (7) the City being reimbursed prior to the disbursement of any profits which may be generated by said event."
