A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASE OF ONE
HUNDRED (100) SMART SIREN LIGHT BARS, UNDER
AN EXISTING CITY OF ST. PETERSBURG BID NO.
4151, FROM MORAN EQUIPMENT CORP. IN THE
AMOUNT OF $55,829.00 AND ONE HUNDRED (100)
CAGES, UNDER AN EXISTING PALM BEACH COUNTY
SHERIFF'S BID NO. 94-0824-136, FROM LAW
ENFORCEMENT SUPPLY COMPANY IN THE AMOUNT OF
$25,799.00 FOR A TOTAL PROPOSED AMOUNT OF
$81,628.00; ALLOCATING FUNDS THEREFOR FROM
THE SUNSHINE STATE GOVERNMENTAL FINANCING
COMMISSION TAX EXEMPT COMMERCIAL PAPER
REVENUE NOTES; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER
TO INSTRUCT THE CHIEF PROCUREMENT OFFICER TO
ISSUE A PURCHASE ORDER FOR THIS EQUIPMENT.
WHEREAS, the Department of General Services
Administration/Solid Waste needs to purchase one hundred 100
smart siren light bars, under an existing City of St. Petersburg
Bid No. 4151, and one hundred (100) cages, under an existing Palm
Beach County Sheriff's Bid No. 94-0824-136, at a proposed total
cost of $81,628.00; and
WHEREAS, this equipment will be used by the Department of
Police to equip new vehicles; and
WHEREAS, funds for these vehicles are available from the
Sunshine State Governmental Financing Commission Tax Exempt
Commercial Paper Revenue Notes; and

WHEREAS, the City Manager and the Assistant City Manager in
charge of the Department of General Services Administration/Solid
Waste recommend the purchase of smart siren light bars from Moran
Equipment Corp. in the amount of $55,829.00 under an existing
City of St. Petersburg Bid No. 4151 and cages from Law
Enforcement Supply Company, in the amount of $25,799.00, under an
existing Palm Beach County Sheriff's Bid No. 94-0824-136 be
approved;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the
Preamble to this Resolution are hereby adopted by reference
thereto and incorporated herein as if fully set forth in this
Section.
Section 2. The purchase of one hundred (100) smart siren
light bars, under an existing City of St. Petersburg Bid No.
4151, from Moran Equipment Corp. in the amount of $55,829.00 and
one hundred (100) cages, under an existing Palm Beach County
Sheriff's Bid No. 94-0824-136, from Law Enforcement Supply
Company in the amount of $25,799.00, at a total proposed amount
of $81,628.00, is hereby authorized, with funds therefor hereby
allocated from the Sunshine State Governmental Financing
Commission Tax Exempt Commercial Paper Revenue Notes.
Section 3. The City Manager is hereby authorized to
instruct the Chief Procurement Officer to issue a purchase order
for this equipment.

Section 4. This Resolution shall become effective
immediately upon its adoption.

Resolution Authorizing
the purchase of Smart
Sirens and Cages for the
Police Patrol Cars
It is respectfully recommended that the City Commission pass the
attached resolution authorizing the purchase of one hundred (100)
Smart Siren Lightbars under an existing City of St. Petersburg
Bid No. 4151 in the amount of $55,829 from Moran Equipment Corp.
and one hundred (100) Cages under an existing Palm Beach County
Sheriff's Bid No. 94-0824-136 in the amount of $25,799.00 from
Law Enforcement Supply Company for a total amount of $81,628.00.
Funding is available from the Sunshine State Governmental
Financing Commission Tax Exempt Commercial Paper Revenue, Notes,
Account Code No. 420902-880, Project No. 509000.
BACKGROUND
The Department of General Services Administration and Solid Waste
and the Police Department needs to purchase one (100) Smart
Sirens and one hundred (100) cages for the Police Department's
new patrol cars. The smart sirens light bars will be purchased
from Moran Equipment Corp. in the amount of $55,829.99 and the
cages will be purchase from Law Enforcement Supply Company in the
amount of $25,799.00 for a total proposed amount of $81,628.00.
Funding for said acquisition is to be acquired through the
Sunshine State Governmental Financing Commission Tax Exempt
Commercial Paper Revenue, Notes, Account Code No. 420902-880,
Project No. 509000.
