A RESOLUTION ENDORSING AND APPROVING THE PARTIAL USE
OF CERTAIN STREETS AND THOROUGHFARES IN DOWNTOWN MIAMI
DURING THE GLOBAL RELEAF EARTH DAY WALK FOR TREES, TO
BE CONDUCTED BY AMERICAN FORESTS IN CONJUNCTION WITH
THE MIAMI RUNNERS CLUB AND 21 LOCAL CIVIC AND
ENVIRONMENTAL ORGANIZATIONS ON APRIL 22, 1995, SUBJECT
TO THE ISSUANCE OF PERMITS BY THE DEPARTMENTS OF
POLICE AND FIRE -RESCUE; FURTHER, AUTHORIZING THE
POLICE DEPARTMENT TO CONTROL TRAFFIC FLOW ON THE
STREETS TO BE UTILIZED AS PART OF THE RACE COURSE;
CONDITIONING SAID APPROVALS AND AUTHORIZATIONS UPON
THE ORGANIZERS PAYING FOR ALL NECESSARY COSTS OF CITY
SERVICES AND FEES ASSOCIATED WITH SAID EVENT AND
OBTAINING INSURANCE TO PROTECT THE CITY IN THE AMOUNT
AS PRESCRIBED BY THE CITY MANAGER OR HIS DESIGNEE.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The partial use of certain streets and thoroughfares in
downtown Miami as specified in Section 2 herein on Saturday, April 22, 1995,
between the hours of 6:00 a.m. and 12:00 noon, during the Global Releaf Earth
Day Walk for Trees, to be conducted by American Forests in conjunction with
the Miami Runners Club and 21 local civic and environmental organizations is
hereby approved, subject to the issuance of permits by the Departments of
Police and Fire -Rescue.
Section 2. The Police Department is hereby authorized to control
traffic flow on certain streets in the downtown area to be utilized as part of
the race course, as follows:

Biscayne Boulevard, Biscayne Boulevard Way, Southeast Third
Avenue, Southeast Fourth Street, Southeast First Avenue, Southeast
Fifth Street, Southeast Miami Avenue Road, Southwest Fifteenth
Road and Southeast Tenth Street.
Section 3. The herein approvals and authorizations are hereby
conditioned upon the organizers paying for all necessary costs of City
services and fees associated with said event and obtaining insurance to
protect the City in the amount as prescribed by the City Manager or his
designee.
Section 4. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its
adoption.
