QU N JO III CITY A TOR Y CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA INTER -OFFICE MEMORANDUM 49 TO: Honorable Mayor and Members of the City Commission FROM: Ce d i o Cl j Cl RECOMMENDATION: DATE : MM 16 1995 FILE4-95-248 SUBJECT.: Cost -Share Agreement with the South Florida Water Management District FY 1996 , REFERENCES: -• ENCLOSURES :Resolution It Is respectfully recommended that the attached Resolution be adopted authorizing the City Manager to submit a Proposal for Fiscal Year 1996 Stormwater Management Partnership Program Cooperative Cost -Share Agreements (Grant) to the South Florida Water Management District for City stormwater drainage retrofitting projects. BACKGROUND: A certain storm sewer retrofitting project in the Little River drainage basin Is Included In the City's six year Capital Improvement Program to address stormwater drainage problems Identified in the City's National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System permit Issued by the Environmental Protection Agency. The Florida Legislature has made funding available for such projects and has empowered the South Florida Water Management District to administer these funds by entering Into cost -share agreements, on a 50-50 basis, with municipalities. The City has Identified a necessary project totaling $800,000 that qualifies for these funds and a successful Proposal for a cost -share agreement would provide $400,000 (50%) of State funds for this project. Funds are available for the City's share of the cost from Stormwater Utility Trust Funds. The attached Resolution authorizes the City Manager to apply for these funds. 9 5 -- 219 g"/ j4.
