A RESOLUTION APPROVING THE LEASE/PURCHASE OF
230 1995 CHEVROLET CAPRICE PURSUIT VEHICLES,
UNDER AN EXISTING DADE COUNTY CONTRACT NO.
3407-OEC-3, FROM ED MORSE CHEVROLET AT A
PROPOSED AMOUNT OF $3,544,373.60 FOR THE
DEPARTMENT OF GENERAL SERVICES
ADMINISTRATION/SOLID WASTE; SAID VEHICLES TO
BE ACQUIRED THROUGH A 36-MONTH LEASE/PURCHASE
PLAN OFFERED BY A FINANCIAL INSTITUTION;
ALLOCATING FUNDS THEREFOR FROM THE GENERAL
SERVICES ADMINISTRATION/SOLID WASTE
DEPARTMENT OPERATING BUDGET, ACCOUNT CODE NO.
420902-880, PROJECT NO. 509000; AUTHORIZING
THE CITY MANAGER TO INSTRUCT THE CHIEF
PROCUREMENT OFFICER TO ISSUE A PURCHASE ORDER
FOR THESE VEHICLES.
WHEREAS, the Department of General Services
Administration/Solid Waste needs to purchase 230 1995 Chevrolet
Caprice pursuit vehicles at a proposed total cost of
$3,544,373.60, available under an existing Dade County Bid No.
3407-OEC-3 from Ed Morse Chevrolet; and
WHEREAS, these vehicles will replace vehicles that can no
longer be kept in service and to satisfy the take home
requirements of the Miami Police Department; and
WHEREAS, these vehicles will be acquired through a 36-month
lease/purohase plan offered by a financial institution, with
funds to be available from the Department of General Services
Administration/Solid Waste Operating Budget, Account Code No.
420902-880, Project No. 509000; and

WHEREAS, the City Manager and the Assistant City Manager in
charge of the Department of General Services Administration/Solid
Waste recommend that the lease/purchase of said vehicles from Ed
Morse Chevrolet under an existing Dade County Bid No. 3407-OEC-3,
for a total proposed amount of $3,544,373.60 be approved;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the
Preamble to this Resolution are hereby adopted by reference
thereto and incorporated herein as if fully set forth in this
Section.
Section 2. The lease/purchase of 230 1995 Chevrolet
Caprice pursuit vehicles, at a proposed total cost of
$3,544,373.60, available under an existing Dade County Bid No.
3407-OEC-3, from Ed Morse Chevrolet, is hereby approved; said
vehicles to be acquired through a 36-month lease/purchase plan
offered by a financial institution, with funds therefor hereby
allocated from the Department of General Services
Administration/Solid Waste Operating Budget, Account Code No.
420902-880, Project No. 509000.
Section 3. The City Manager is hereby authorized to
instruct the Chief Procurement Officer to issue a purchase order
for these vehicles.

It is respectfully recommended that the City Commission adopt
the attached resolution authorizing the purchase of two hundred
and thirty (230) 1995 Chevrolet Caprice police pursuit cars from
Ed Morse Chevrolet, a non-minority/non-local vendor, located at
1640 N. State Road 7 (441), Lauderhill, Florida under Dade County
Bid No. 3407-OEC-3 at a total proposed amount of $3,544,373.60.
The Department of General Services Administration and Solid Waste
needs to purchase two hundred and thirty (230) 1995 Chevrolet
Caprice police pursuit cars to replace vehicles that can no
longer be kept in service and to satisfy the Take Home
requirements of the Miami Police Department.
These vehicles are to be acquired through a 36-month lease
purchase plan offered by a financial institution, with funds for
the lease purchase plan to be available from the Department of
General Services Administration and Solid Waste Operating
Budget, Account Code No. 420902-880, Project Code No. 509000.
