BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. BACKGROUND: The Department of Equal Opportunity/Diversity Programs respectfully requests the appointment of five (5) individuals and the confirmation of one (1) individual to the Affirmative Action Advisory Board. Females and Hispanics are underrepresented on the Board, comprising 23% and 38.5%, compared to 46% and 620-o, respectively, of the City of Miami general population. Of the five (5) vacancies, Mayor Clark and Commissioner Dawkins have two (2) appointments each, while Commissioner De Yurre has one (1) appointment. The following Board members desire reappointment: Nora Hernandez Hendrix and Sam Mason by Commissioner Dawkins; and Robert Valledor by Mayor Clark (originally appointed by Mayor Suarez). urther, the Board requests the confirmation of a certified gaining representative of City employees as determined by the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees.
