Plummer City of Miami 3500 Pan American Drive Miami, F1. 33131 Honorable Commissioner Plummer: The purpose of this letter is to ask you to include a personal appearance to be scheduled for the commission agenda of November 17, 1994 at 6:00 p.m. I would like to present in the name of the Wynwood-Edgewater. neighborhood 5,000 signed petitions asking for the stoppage of expansion of the container cargo facility of the Port of Miami into the Wynwood-Edgewater area. We would like the city commi- ssion to officially oppose this expansion and to support our position when we take the same petition of NO CONTAINER CARGO FACILITY IN WYNWOOD EDGEWATER,to the Dade County Board of Commision. In addition, we would like to request that the presently used . properties owned by the F.E.C. Railroad and by Tamarac Industries, located between 29th and 36th streets and N.E. 2nd Avenue to Miami , Avenue, be cleaned, made environmentally and physically safe and maintained according to the City of Miami's codes. A commission mandate to the Zoning Department in this regards will go a long way to insure the quality of life of our neighborhood. The community would also like the Commission's support in stopping the growth of rehabilitation centers in the Wynwood-Edgewater area, until the rest of Dade County Carries its appropriate share. As an example, at present Census Tract 27.01 (East of Biscayne Blvd. from 14th to 36th street) has approximately 8% of its population as per- sons in rehabilitation homes; the City of Miami's ordinance establi- shes a maximum of 2 % of the total census tract population in these types of homes. I look forward to your confirmation concerning the abgye requests.
