RESOLUTION NO. 9 5 - 45
A RESOLUTION RELATED TO THE 1995 MARCH OF
DIMES WALK AMERICA EVENT TO BE CONDUCTED BY
THE MARCH OF DIMES BIRTH DEFECTS FOUNDATION ON
APRIL 1, 1995; AUTHORIZING THE WAIVER OF ALL
WAIVABLE USER FEES AND CERTAIN WAIVABLE
EQUIPMENT FEES FROM THE DEPARTMENT OF PARKS
AND RECREATION, IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED
$490.00; AUTHORIZING THE PROVISION OF AN
ON -DUTY RESCUE UNIT FOR SAID EVENT; SAID
AUTHORIZATIONS CONDITIONED UPON THE ORGANIZERS
PAYING FOR ALL OTHER NECESSARY COSTS OF CITY
SERVICES AND APPLICABLE FEES ASSOCIATED WITH
SAID EVENT AND OBTAINING ALL NECESSARY PERMITS
AND INSURANCE TO PROTECT THE CITY IN THE
AMOUNT AS PRESCRIBED BY THE CITY MANAGER OR
HIS DESIGNEE.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI,
FLORIDA:
Section 1. The waiver of all waivable user fees and certain
waivable equipment fees from the Department of Parks and
Recreation, in an amount not to exceed $490.00, and the provision
of an on -duty rescue unit is hereby authorized for the 1995 March
of Dimes Walk America event to be conducted by the March of Dimes
Birth Defects Foundation on April 1, 1995.

Seotion 2. The herein authorizations are hereby oonditioned
upon the organizers paying for all other neoessary posts of City
services and applicable fees assooiated with said event and
obtaining all necessary permits and insuranoe to proteot the City
in the amount as prescribed by the City Manager or his designee.
Seotion 3. This Resolution shall become effeotive
immediately upon its adoption.

As 1995 draws near the March of Dimes Birth Defects Foundation would like to exm d an
invitation to you and the City of Miami to join us in celebrating '33 Years, of Wnildng for
ReWtWer P, :lea". On April 1st, 1995 (no foolirl') the Mardi of Dimes wM bold ,its 25th
Annual Wa ..,kmerica.
We are, proud once again to include you among our spccW core of sponsors for
WalkAmerica'95. As has been done over the past ton years, we arc requesting to be on the
Commissioners' Agenda for January 1995 to request the following items:
1, PcrrnWon to use route as shown on attached map.
2. Suez, closure during the hours of 7:30 a.m,-9:00 a.m.
(or until walkers have passed through McFarlane and Main
HigbWay).
3. Restriction of peddlers from selling in iramediate area of
Pcaeock Park (additional.poliaa support is not eMxcted
as volunteers are coordinating evmrt).
4. Fee waivers for Peacock Park and Morrie Christmas - $150;
fxlaac House - $80; fee waivers for showmob0e - $80;
gcneratorMA rental - $W; and bletteber rental - $80 for
a total of $470 (those fees based an last years figures)

S. We would neod an on duty Fire Rescue Unit to be at Peacock Park
for approximately 1-112 hours in the A.M. and 1-W hours in the PAL
The Mareb of Dimes receives no government or United Way fuxndiag. We receive funds
from individuals in fund raising events such as WO Amerioa. Sixty porcent of all funds
raised stay in the community. As a national organization, we reap the benefits of national
research, advocacy, and education programs that directly impact aR of us.
The March of Dimes mission is to improve the health of bablos by prw anting birth dafem
and infant mortality. The March of Dimes carries out its mission through the C.=paiga for
Healthier Babies, which funds prop as of rcwwvh, community somioe and advocacy.
In addition, we would apprealate it if you would appoint a City of Miami person to head up
the City of Mie&mf Walk Team for 1995. We have always enjoy working with Liz Babun in
the past and hope thaL she will be part of your woo again this you,
