Home My WebLink AboutR-95-0036U-95-13 12/28/94 RESOLUTION NO. 9 5 - 36 A RESOLUTION BY A FOUR -FIFTHS (4/5THS) AFFIRMATIVE VOTE OF THE MEMBERS OF THE CITY COMMISSION, AFTER A DULY ADVERTISED PUBLIC HEARING, RATIFYING, APPROVING AND CONFIRMING THE CITY MANAGER'S EMERGENCY ACTION IN WAIVING THE REQUIREMENT FOR COMPETITIVE SEALED BIDS FOR THE FURNISHING OF A NEW CAB AND FLOOR FOR THE INSIDE ELEVATOR AT THE ORANGE BOWL STADIUM FROM CENTRELLEX ELEVATOR SERVICE IN A TOTAL PROPOSED AMOUNT OF $8,860.00 FOR THE DEPARTMENT OF CONFERENCES, CONVENTIONS AND PUBLIC FACILITIES; ALLOCATING FUNDS THEREFOR FROM ACCOUNT CODE NO. 350503-340; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO INSTRUCT THE CHIEF PROCUREMENT OFFICER TO ISSUE A PURCHASE ORDER FOR THIS SERVICE. WHEREAS, the small inside elevator at the Orange Bowl Stadium is in urgent need of repair as the cab and floor of the elevator are rotten and require replacement; and WHEREAS, this elevator is used by concession personnel and sick patrons who cannot use ramps to get to their seats in the ,, upper level of the stadium; and WHEREAS, the City Manager has approved the emergency repair of this elevator by Centrellex Elevator Service; and WHEREAS, funds for this purchase and repair are available from the Department of Conferences, Conventions and Public Facilities, Account Code No. 350503-340; and CITY COMMISSION pj1"EBTYNG OF Resolution No. 95- 36 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are hereby adopted by reference thereto and incorporated herein as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. By an affirmative vote of four -fifths (4/5ths) of the members of the City Commission, after a duly advertised public hearing, the City Manager's emergency action in waiving the requirement for competitive sealed bids for the furnishing of a new cab and floor for the inside elevator at the Orange Bowl Stadium from Centrellex Elevator Service in the amount of $8,860.00 for the Department of Conferences, Conventions and Public Facilities is hereby ratified, approved and confirmed, with funds therefor hereby allocated from Account Code No. 350503-340. The cab and floor of this elevator are rotten beyond repair, and the elevator cannot be used until a new cab and floor are installed. This elpvatnr is used by concession personnel and sick patrons who cannot use the ramps to get to their seats in the upper level of the Stadium. The stadium staff has obtained quotations from two companies listed below. Additional companies have been contacted, but these are the only two companies with the necessary equipment and expertise. The quotes obtained for replacement of the elevator cab and floor are: Miami Elevator Company t15,344.00 Centrellx Elevator Service 8,86n.00 Immediate repair of this elevator is essential to ensure the safety of the patrons and concession personnel which must use this elevator. These repairs must be completed before the next University of Miami football game to be held at the Stadium on October 29, 1994. To meet this deadline, it is necessary that we forego the normal bidding procedure, and request you approve this request for rep 'rs to award the job to Centrellx at a cost of $R,3560.00 on emergency basis.
