BACKGROUND The Fire Emergency Television Network (FETN) is an effective fire and rescue inservice training program compatible with the National Fire Protection Association and the International Fire Safety Training Association. These series of satellite transmitted programs are offered daily covering a variety of firefighting and emergency medical subjects. This system is designed for firefighting and EMS personnel to view programs at the stations, complete written testing, and follow up hands-on training. The curriculum and testing material are made available as part of the package. The FETN video library maintains countless topics available to the Fire -Rescue Department. Computer modem capability for complete training recordkeeping is another of the services offered by the FETN. The University of Cincinnati in conjunction with FETN offers college level credits to firefighters who wish to participate in this program. This includes televised training courses which would allow personnel to take advantage of training and other resources that might otherwise not be available because of limited budgets and travel constraints. _95- 19 CA(_/
