HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-95-0016J-95-01 12/13/94 RESOLUTION NO. 9 5 — S A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE ENGAGEMENT OF THE LAW FIRM OF MERSHON, SAWYER, JOHNSTON, DUNWODY & COLE ("MERSHON SAWYER") TO SERVE AS COUNSEL FOR THE CITY OF MIAMI SPECIFICALLY FOR THE PREPARATION OF DOCUMENTATION RELATED TO HEALTH INSURANCE ISSUES; FURTHER ALLOCATING FUNDS THEREFOR, IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $40,000, FROM ACCOUNT NO. 672001-400501-270 FOR SAID SERVICES. WHEREAS, the City of Miami, requires the preparation and execution of a contract and related documents in connection with the provision of health benefits for its employees; and WHEREAS, the City Attorney's Office does not have the requisite expertise in the specialized area of Health Law to provide the required services; ' NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are hereby adopted by reference thereto and incorporated herein as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. The engagement of the law firm of Mershon, Sawyer, Johnston, Dunwody & Cole ("Mershon Sawyer") to serve as counsel for the City of Miami specifically for the preparation of documentation related to health insurance issues is hereby -- . . 96 y3.�.. The City of Miami requires expertise in the specialized area of Health care, The City Attorney's office does not have the requisite expertise in such area. The Law Firm of Mershon, Sawyer, Johnston, Dunwody and Cole has considerable experience dealing with the ever cliaaging legislative and judicial environment in which employee benefits exist. 9 5 -- 16 TOTAL P.01
