HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-95-0007J-95-35 12/22/94 RESOLUTION NO. 9 5 "' 7 A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING FUNDING FOR THE COCONUT GROVE FAMILY AND YOUTH INTERVENTION CENTER, AND ALLOCATING FUNDS THEREFOR, IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $13,200, FROM THE LAW ENFORCEMENT TRUST FUND, SUCH EXPENDITURE HAVING BEEN CERTIFIED BY THE CHIEF OF POLICE AS COMPLYING WITH FLORIDA STATE STATUTE, CHAPTER 932.7055, AS AMENDED. WHEREAS, Florida State Statute 932.7055, as amended, authorizes the expenditure of forfeiture proceeds for law enforcement purposes not considered normal operating expenses; and WHEREAS, the City of Miami, supports those groups dedicated to assisting the children of our community in becoming responsible and productive citizens; and WHEREAS, the Coconut Grove Family and Youth Intervention Center ("Center") is a social network formed to provide social services for at -risk youth and families in West Coconut Grove; and WHEREAS, the Center will provide alternate activities for youth crime prevention; and and WHEREAS, the Center will use several programs to accomplish this goal; WHEREAS, the Police Department will contribute funding to support the "Theater in the Park" and the "Street Hockey" Programs; and WHEREAS, the Chief of Police has recommended adoption of this Resolution and has certified that the expenditures proposed comply with Florida State Statute 932.7055, as amended; and CITY COMMISSION, DTEETI11C OF JA h1 1 2 1995 liesolution No. 9 5 7 i 1 v WHEREAS, funds to cover the necessary expenses required for this program are available in the City of Miami Law Enforcement Trust Fund; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are hereby adopted by reference thereto and incorporated herein as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. Funding for the Coconut Grove Family and Youth Intervention Center, is hereby authorized, with funds therefor hereby allocated, in an amount not to exceed $13,200, from the City of Miami Law Enforcement Trust Fund, Project No. 690001, Index Code 029002-247, such expenditure having been approved by the Chief of Police as complying with Florida State Statutes, Chapter 932.7055, as amended. BACKGROUND: The Coconut Grove Family and Youth Intervention Center is a social service network formed to provide service to at -risk youth and families in West Coconut Grove. The Center will provide alternative activities for youth crime prevention. They will use several programs to accomplish this goal.
