ORDINANCE NO. 11278
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 53-161(4) OF
THE CODE OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA, AS
AMENDED, ENTITLED "SCHEDULE OF FEES", THEREBY
ESTABLISHING REVISED PARKING RATES AT THE
JAMES L. KNIGHT INTERNATIONAL CENTER PUBLIC
PARKING FACILITY; CONTAINING A REPEALER
PROVISION AND A SEVERABILITY CLAUSE.
WHEREAS, the Trust Indenture for the James L. Knight
International Center requires that recommendations for revision
of rates for the facility be prepared each year and submitted to
the Director of the Convention Center; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to its Management Agreement for the
operation of the public parking facility at the James L. Knight
International Center, the Department of Off -Street Parking
conducted an analysis and recommended changes to certain rates;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. Section of the Code of the City of Miami,
Florida, as amended, is hereby amended in the following
particulars:

Underscored words and/or figures shall be added. The
remaining provisions are now in effect and remain unchanged.
Asterisks indicate omitted and unchanged material.

"Sec. 53-161. Schedule of fees.
The schedule of rents, rates, fees and charges for
the use or occupancy of and for the services furnished
or to be furnished in connection with the Convention
Center of the City of Miami/University of Miami
James L. Knight International Center, also known as the
"Miami Convention Center," is established as follows:
(4) Convention Center Parking Garage (including State
sales tax.

"9-to-7" worker special (in by
9:00 a.m., out by 7:00 p.m.)...... 5.00
Maximum........................... 8.00 12.00

Section 2. All ordinances or parts of ordinances insofar
as they are inconsistent or in conflict with the provisions of
this Ordinance are hereby repealed.
Section 3. If any section, part of section, paragraph,
clause, phrase, or word of this Ordinance is declared invalid,
the remaining provisions of this Ordinance shall not be affected.
Section 4. This Ordinance shall become effective thirty
(30) days from final reading and adoption thereof.

RECOMMENDATION:
It is respectfully recommended that the City Commission adopt the
attached Ordinance accepting the recommended schedule of rates,
fees and charges for the Convention Center Parking Garage,
effective June 1, 1995.
BACKGROUND:
The Department of Conferences, Conventions and Public Facilities
has reviewed the current rates and comparative research submitted
by the Department of Off -Street Parking regarding rates at the
Convention Center Parking Garage, and recommends new rates, fees
and charges for the Parking Garage.
In accordance with the covenant of the Trust Indenture securing
the Convention Center/Garage Revenue Bonds, a study was conducted
of rates at the Convention Center Parking Garage and comparable
parking facilities. Based on a review of the current rates, and
comparative research compiled by the Department of Off -Street
Parking, the proposed rate changes are recommended. These rate
changes are expected to increase gross revenues by $175,000 to
$200,000 per year at the Convention Center Parking Garage.
