June 27, 1995'r}; s4L Cesar Odio City Manager City of Miami 3500 Pan American Drive Miami, FL 33133 Dear Mr. Odio: ,on behalf of the Metro -Dade Art In Public Places Trust, I respectfully request a personal appearance before the City of Miami Commission on their next available agenda of July 13, 1995. The purpose of my request is to present to the commission plans for a unique landmark structure planned for the Riverwalk station of the Metromover system. The project, by Miami -based artists Rosario Marquardt and Roberto Behar, will create a gateway titled "Red .M" which seeks to bridge the monumental scale of the station with the human scale of the pedestrian entranceway. - The gateway "Red M" represents Metromover and Miami and will become an urban triumphal arch. It echoes historical Metro entrances re -interpreted in modern terms and expressed In the bold colors of our tropical environment. Attached is published information on the project.- I look forward to.presenting the project to the commission and to the realization of the 'Red M" for our community.
