Dear Commissioner,
April 18,1995
per your request on Tuesday April 12th,in your office,
here are some of the things that John Mobley did during his
lifetime to help Miami become the city it is today.
(1) "John Mobley is our number 1 Pro Grid Fan",Miami Herald,
5/29/46
(2) "Lions Club Member Honored","John Mobley was honored at

"A Senior Master Ke.y,known to be in the possession of
only three Lions Club members in the entire State of
Florida".Home News Paper,l/7/1949
44) Police get"dream" horse gift as -nucleus of Mounted Patrol.
Miami Daily News,1/9/49 John Mobley gave a $1200.00
white horse to the city to start patrolling Bayfront
Park,an idea he conceived a year ago,and was instrumental
in getting others to donate horses. Now they:.number 12 or 13
and doing a good job.Miami Daily News,l/9/1949

(10) Kotys to get Gables Grid Post--Mobley,Daily News,3/14/52,
and he coached Gables High untill he retired.
(11) John Mobley was the number one baseball fan in Miami.
Sunny Iiurst, who broadcast the ballgames at the time,
had John Mobley night on his birthday,7/8/71,wich was
a total suprise. They stopped the game at the bottom of
the 3rd inningand had all the players, owners and coaches
circle the hone plate and they gave him a trophy and
cake.He passed away the next January 10th,1973.
You only asked me for 4 or 5 items, however I have included
a few extras. There are many more accomplishments he had
undertaken thatI have not listed here.
You also asked me to name what BLVD"$ or STREETS• I wanted!.to
name with"John Mobley*Way" -.I firmly believe that Biscayne
BLVD.sbould :be a first consideration for the reasons that
he owned property along the boulevard, and I still own to
this day.Plus,he and his horse "Buddy" patrolled for years
the circle in front of the old Sears building, which is a
major city landmark.
A good second choice would be NE 2nd Ave ,which was one of
his main travelling routes.
I want to thank you for time and help on this matter.I hope
you understand that if I do not do this for him, nobody is
left to do it!
Sincerely,
And V ry Tr ley Y urs,
ohn Moble
