HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-96-0911I: � y � J-96-1272 11 /27/96 RESOLUTION N0* 6 9 A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ACCEPT A LEGISLATIVE LINE ITEM GRANT FROM THE STATE OF FLORIDA, DEPARTMENT OF ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION, FOR THE MIAMI RIVERWALK PROJECT, IN THE AMOUNT OF $200,000; FURTHER AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE THE NECESSARY DOCUMENTS, IN A FORM ACCEPTABLE TO THE CITY ATTORNEY, TO ACCEPT SAID GRANT AND IMPLEMENT THE PROJECT. WHEREAS, the 1996 Florida Legislature approved the funding of a legislative line item grant to the City of Miami for the Miami Riverwalk Project in the amount of $200,000; and WHEREAS, said line item appropriation will be used for riverwalk stabilization activities along a section of the public shoreline across from Lummus Park; and WHEREAS, to make these funds available the City of Miami must enter into an appropriate contract with the State of Florida, Department of Environmental Projection to administer and disburse the funds; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are hereby adopted by reference thereto and incorporated herein as if fully set forth in this Section. The City Manager is hereby authorized to accept a legislative line item grant from the State of Florida, Department of Environmental Protection, in the amount of $200,000, to be used for the Miami Riverwalk Project. Section 3. The City Manager is hereby further authorized' to execute the necessary documents, a form(s) acceptable to the City Attorney to accept said grant and implement the project. Section 4. ' The herein authorization is further subject to compliance with all requirements that may be imposed by the City Attorney, including but not limited to those prescribed by applicable City Charter and Code provisions. 2- 96-911 CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA INTER -OFFICE MEMORANDUM TO: Honorable Mayor and Members DATE : "' ` FILE of the City Commission SUBJECT: Legislative Line Item Grant for Miami Riverwalk Project FROM: REFERENCES: Edward Mar ENCLOSURES: City M RECOMMENDATION It is respectfully recommended that the City Commission approve the attached Resolution accepting a legislative line item grant from the State of Florida Department of Environmental Protection for the Miami Riverwalk Project in the amount of $200,000 and authorizing the City Manager to execute the necessary documents, in a form acceptable to the City Attorney, to accept this legislative line item grant and implement the project. This grant does not require matching funds. BACKGROUND The 1996 Florida Legislature has approved the funding of a legislative line item grant to the City of Miami for the Miami Riverwalk Project in the amount of $200,000. The project activities will take place along a section of public shoreline which exists on the City -owned property south of the former Pioneer Club site across from Lummus Park. The Office of Asset Management will work closely with the Department of Community Planning and Revitalization on this project since it reinforces redevelopment efforts along the Miami River as outlined in CPR's Miami Riverside Revitalization Plan. 96-911
