RESOLUTION NO.
A RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING A COMMITTEE TO BE
KNOWN AS THE CITY'S BUILDING AND ZONING
ADVISORY COMMITTEE (THE "COMMITTEE"); SETTING
FORTH SAID COMMITTEE'S FUNCTIONS, DUTIES AND
MEMBERSHIP; FURTHER, AUTHORIZING SAID
COMMITTEE TO ELECT A CHAIRPERSON AND
ESTABLISH ITS OWN RULES OF PROCEDURE.
WHEREAS, there is a need to expedite the issuance of
building permits in the City of Miami; and
WHEREAS, the Commission of the City of Miami wishes to
evaluate the effectiveness of the City's presently established
procedures for the issuance of building permits and to implement
measures to make said procedures more efficient;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the
Preamble to this Resolution are hereby adopted by reference
thereto and incorporated herein as if fully set forth in this
Section.
Section 2. A committee to be known as the City's
Building and Zoning Advisory Committee (the "Committee") is
hereby established.

Section 3. The Committee's function shall be to provide
recommendations to the City Commission and the City
Administration and to implement measures to better serve those
individuals requiring the services of the City's Building and
Zoning Department.
Section 4. The Committee shall report its findings and
recommendations to the City Commission or on before
April 1, 1997.
Section 5. The Committee shall consist of five (5)
members who shall be appointed by the members of the City
Commission.
Section 6. Members of the Committee shall be
representatives of professional and construction industry
organizations, including but not limited to organizations such as
the South Florida Chapters of the American Institute of
Architects.
Section 7. The City Manager shall assign staff to the
Committee to adequately carry out its responsibilities and
duties.
Section 8. Committee members shall serve for a term
commencing on the effective date of this Resolution and ending
upon the submission of the report made reference to in Section 4
hereinabove.
Section 9. The Committee shall elect a Chairperson and
establish its own rules of procedure for the conduct of business.
Section 10. This Resolution shall become effective
immediately upon its adoption.
