HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-96-0849r, J-96-1204 11/13/96 RESOLUTION NO.9 6 w 8 4 9 A RESOLUTION RELATED TO THE COCONUT GROVE ARTS FESTIVAL, CONDUCTED BY THE COCONUT GROVE ASSOCIATION, INC., TO BE HELD ON FEBRUARY 15- 17, 1997; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ISSUE A THREE-DAY PERMIT FOR THE SALE OF ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES DURING SAID EVENT IN THE AREA OF MCFARLANE ROAD FROM GRAND AVENUE TO SOUTH BAYSHORE DRIVE, GRAND AVENUE FROM MCDONALD STREET TO MARY STREET, COMMODORE PLAZA FROM GRAND AVENUE TO MAIN HIGHWAY, MAIN HIGHWAY FROM CHARLES AVENUE TO MCFARLAND ROAD, FULLER STREET FROM GRAND AVENUE TO MAIN HIGHWAY, AND SOUTH BAYSHORE DRIVE FROM MCFARLAND ROAD TO DARWIN STREET IN COCONUT GROVE, MIAMI, FLORIDA; SAID AUTHORIZATION CONDITIONED UPON THE ORGANIZERS: (1) OBTAINING ALL PERMITS REQUIRED BY LAW, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO A TEMPORARY PERMIT TO SELL ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES BY THE FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF BUSINESS REGULATION, DIVISION OF ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES AND TOBACCO, PURSUANT TO SECTION 54-12.1 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA, AS AMENDED; (2) PAYING FOR ALL NECESSARY COSTS OF CITY SERVICES AND APPLICABLE FEES ASSOCIATED WITH SAID EVENT; (3) OBTAINING INSURANCE TO PROTECT THE CITY IN THE AMOUNT AS PRESCRIBED BY THE CITY MANAGER OR HIS DESIGNEE; AND (4) COMPLYING WITH ALL CONDITIONS AND LIMITATIONS AS MAY BE PRESCRIBED BY THE CITY MANAGER OR HIS DESIGNEE. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The City Manager is hereby authorized to issue a three-day permit for the sale of alcoholic beverages during the Coconut Grove Arts Festival, conducted by the Coconut CITY COMMISSION MEETING OF NOV 2 1 1996 Resolution No. ( ] 9 4 �'7 r , Grove Association, Inc., to be held on February 15-17, 1997, in the area of McFarlane Road from Grand Avenue to South Bayshore Drive, Grand Avenue from McDonald Street to Mary Street, Commodore Plaza from Grand Avenue to Main Highway, Main Highway from Charles Avenue to McFarland Road, Fuller Street from Grand Avenue to Main Highway, and South Bayshore Drive from McFarland Road to Darwin Street in Coconut Grove, Miami, Florida. Section 2. The herein authorization is hereby conditioned upon the organizers (1) obtaining all permits required by law, including but not limited to a temporary permit to sell alcoholic beverages by the Florida Department of Business Regulation, Division of Alcoholic Beverages and Tobacco, pursuant to Section 54-12.1 of the Code of the City of Miami, Florida, as amended; (2) paying for all necessary costs of City services and applicable fees associated with said event; (3) obtaining insurance to protect the City in the amount as prescribed by the City Manager or his designee; and (4) complying with all conditions and limitations as may be prescribed by the City Manager or his designee. It is respectfully recommended that the City Commission adopt the attached resolution authorizing the sale of alcoholic beverages during the Coconut Grove Arts Festival. BACKGROUND: The Department of Community Development has prepared the appropriate legislation related to the Coconut Grove Association, Inc. request to sell alcoholic beverages during the Coconut Grove Arts Festival to be held February 15-17, 1997. The City's Special Events Committee has met with the event organizers and has deemed their request acceptable. It is respectfully requested that the City Commission adopt the attached proposed Resolution authorizing the sale of alcoholic beverages during the aforementioned event.
