ENCLOSURES:
The City of Miami Community Redevelopment Agencies are quasi independent agencies of the
City of Miami, established by the City Commission in 1995 pursuant to Chapter 163, Florida
Statutes, for the purpose of implementing the community redevelopment plans for the Southeast
Overtown/Park West and Omni Redevelopment Districts. The principle objectives of both
redevelopment plans are to remove the slum and blight and increase the City's tax base by
attracting new investments to the area.
Former Commissioner Dawkins served as chairperson of bath Community Redevelopment
Agencies for both the OMNI and Southeast Overtown/Park West districts. Mr. Dawkins
resigned from said appointments. It is now appropriate for the City Commission to now appoint
a new chairperson for the OMNI Community Redevelopment Agency and one chairperson for
the Southeast Overtown/Park West Community Redevelopment Agency.
By copy of this memorandum, we are requesting that the Agenda Office place this issue on the
October 10, 1996 Commission agenda.
