ENCLOSURES : (List of Members)
The City of Miami Affordable housing Advisory Committee was created to review the
established policies and procedures, ordinances, land development regulations, the adopted
City of Miami Consolidated Plan, and shall recommend specific initiatives to encourage or
facilitate affordable housing, while protecting the ability of the property to appreciate in value.
City Code Section 2-429 states:
"The terms of office of the members of each board shall run concurrently with
the term of office of the commissioner that nominates each member. When
the nominating commissioner leaves office the board member's term shall
expire."
Six appointments are needed at this time:
• Mayor Carollo has one nomination to make for one citizen who is designated as an
advocate for low-income persons. Said seat is presently held by Tayler Pierce Kurau,
whose term expired on May 1, 1996. Mr. Kurau had been nominated by former Mayor Clark.
• Commissioner Dunn has one nomination to make for one citizen who is a provider of
affordable housing. Said seat is presently held by Herb Bailey whose term expires on May
1, 1997. Mr. Bailey had been nominated by former Commissioner Dawkins.
• Commission at -large: At the Commission meeting of June 13th, the Commission decided
that each Commissioner would fill the four at -large appointments by submitting his
nomination in writing to the City Clerk. Said four appointments are still pending to be
made. One appointment is for a citizen who is a representative of those areas of labor
engaged in home building and the other three are citizen categories.
For your information, attached please find a copy of the current membership of said
committee. By copy of this memorandum, we are requesting that the Agenda Office place this
issue on the October 10, 1996 Commission agenda.
