G - A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE A LEASE AGREEMENT, IN A FORM ACCEPTABLE TO THE CITY ATTORNEY, WITH BAYVIEW ASSOCIATES, INC., FOR THE LEASING OF 6,164 SQUARE FEET OF OFFICE SPACE LOCATED AT THE DUPONT PLAZA CENTER, 300 BISCAYNE BOULEVARD WAY, MIAMI, FLORIDA, FOR A TERM OF EIGHT MONTHS, AT AN ANNUAL RATE OF $11.00 PER SQUARE FOOT, EQUALING A MONTHLY RENT OF $5,650.33, FOR A TOTAL AMOUNT OF $45 202.64; ALLOCATING FUNDS THEREFOR FROM 21tT YEAR COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT FUNDS, INDEX CODE 452163, PROJECT NO. 799626. WHEREAS, the City of Miami's NET/Neighborhood Jobs Program is in need of space at a central location from which it may operate; and S 7 r WHEREAS, a move from the NET/Neighborhood Jobs Program Y current location, at the Dupont Plaza Center, would prove to be i disruptive and interfere with the smooth delivery of services to t t the community; and r I WHEREAS, funds are available from 21St Year Community i j Development Block Grant funds, Index Code 452163, Project No. 799626 to pay for said space at the Dupont Plaza Center; ; t NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are hereby adopted by reference thereto and incorporated herein as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. The City Manager is hereby authorizedl/ to execute a lease agreement, in a form acceptable to the City Attorney, with Bayview Associates, Inc., for the leasing of 6,164 i square feet of office space at the Dupont Plaza Center, located at 300 Biscayne Boulevard Way, Miami, Florida, for a term of eight months, at an annual rate of $11.00 per square foot, equaling a monthly rent of $5,650.33 for a total amount of $45,202.64, said lease to include the provision of thirteen C parking spaces in the Dupont Plaza Parking Garage, with funds i therefor hereby allocated from 215t Year Community Development Block Grant Funds, Index Code 452163, Project No. 799626. r Section 3. This Resolution shall become effective i immediately upon its adoption. l i 1/ The herein authorization is further subject to compliance with all requirements that may be imposed by the City Attorney, including but not limited to those prescribed by applicable City Charter and Code provisions. - 2 - 96- 725 I CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA INTER -OFFICE MEMORANDUM Honorable Mayor and Members To : of the City Commission • A y RECOMMENDATION: DATE : SEP 3 0 1996 FILE : Resolution Authorizing the City Manager SUBJECT to Execute a Lease Agreement for NET/ Neighborhood Jobs Program REFERENCES: For October 10, 1996 ENCLOSURES: Commission Meeting It is respectfully recommended that the City Commission adopt the attached resolution, authorizing the City Manager to execute a Lease Agreement, in a form acceptable to the City Attorney, between the City of Miami and Bayview Associates Inc., for the purpose of leasing 6,164 square feet of office space at the Dupont Plaza Center, for a term of eight months, at a rental rate of $11.00 per square foot for a monthly rent of $5,650.33, and a total amount of $45,202.64, which includes thirteen (13) parking spaces in the Dupont Plaza Parking Garage. This office space would be occupied by the NET/Neighborhood Jobs Program. BACKGROUND: All remaining City Department located in the Dupont Plaza Center are scheduled to complete their move to Miami Riverside Center (MRC) by the end of October 1996, with the exception of the NET/Neighborhood Jobs Program. It is anticipated that in the spring of 1997, due to State and Federal welfare reform and impending new job training legislation, the NET/Neighborhood Jobs Program will be relocated to the three areas in the City most impacted by the proposed legislative changes; Little Havana, Overtown and Model City. Moving the NET/Neighborhood Jobs Program at this time from its current location at the Dupont Plaza Center would prove to be disruptive and interfere with the smooth delivery of services to the community. Funds in the total amount of $45,202.64 are hereby allocated from 21st Year Community Development Block Grant funds, Index Code 452163, Project Number 799626, for said Lease Agreement. yh_ 7 25 1
