City Manager ENCLOSURES:
RECOMMENDATION
It is respectfully recommended that the City Commission adopt the attached
resolution authorizing the City Manager to purchase barricades for installation in
the Model City neighborhood as shown in the attached Exhibit "A".
BACKGROUND
During the month of March 1996, a Police Department program entitled
"Operation Stand -Up" was implemented on a temporary basis to combat narcotics
trafficking in the area bounded by NW 62 Street, NW 12 Avenue, NW 60 Street and
NW 15 Avenue. The program has met with considerable success gaining the
support of many citizens in the area and community organizations such as the
Urban League of Greater Miami. At the July 11, 1996 Commission meeting, the City
Commission adopted Resolution No. 96-506 authorizing and permitting the
restriction of vehicular access to these streets and it is now in order to purchase
and install the barricades.
Funds are available in an amount not to exceed $7,560.00 from the Public Works
Account No. 310501-840 for the purchase of the barricades.
