I A RESOLUTION APPOINTING CERTAIN INDIVIDUALS TO SERVE AS MEMBERS OF THE CITYWIDE COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT ADVISORY BOARD FOR TERMS AS DESIGNATED HEREIN. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The following individuals are hereby appointed as members of the Citywide Community Development Advisory Board, each member to serve a term expiring May 5, 1997, or until the nominating commissioner leaves office, whichever 1 occurs first: f APPOINTEES: NOMINATED BY: Deferred Mayor Deferred Mayor Jar,:es. Foe City Clerk CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA INTER -OFFICE MEMORANDUM DATE : June 21, 1996 FILE : SUB.IECT : Four Appointments Needed to the Citywide Community Development Advisory Board REFERENCES : (Aprl 25, 1996 Agenda) ENCLOSURES: (List of Members) The Citywiide Community Development Advisory Board was created to advise the City Commission on community development and housing needs. The board will be responsible for providing a leadership role in encouraging target area -wide resident participation in the citywide grant process as follows: (a) Promoting interest in grant activities in the target areas; (b) Providing residents with an opportunity to discuss community concerns and related issues; (c) Providing an opportunity for City residents to identify community needs; (d) Facilitating two-way communication with government representatives and target area residents, and assisting the City in communicating its program services and benefits to residents; (e) Recommending priorities for community improvements; (f) Reviewing the progress of community improvement activities; and (g) Conducting public meetings. Four of the Commission appointed board members have terms which expired on May 5, 1996. The eight elected target area members also have terms which expired on May 5, 1996. The Department of NET/Community Development will hold elections in each of the eight target areas in August and will bring back at the September Commission Meeting ratification by the City Commission of the target area elected representatives. The nominations to be made now are: two by the Mayor, one by Vice Mayor Gort and one by Commissioner Group II. For your information, attached please find a copy of the current membership of said board.
