HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-96-0532J-96-602 7/9/96 RESOLUTION NO. 96- 532 A RESOLUTION RELATED TO THE THIRD ANNUAL DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AWARENESS WALK-A-THON, CONDUCTED BY THE DADE COUNTY ALLIANCE AGAINST DOMESTIC VIOLENCE, TO BE HELD IN THE COCONUT GROVE SPECIAL EVENTS DISTRICT ON OCTOBER 26, 1996; WAIVING THE REQUIREMENTS CONTAINED IN SECTION 54-171 (B) (1) , (2) AND (3) OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA, AS AMENDED, WHICH (A) LIMITS THE NUMBER OF EVENTS THAT MAY BE HELD IN THE COCONUT GROVE SPECIAL EVENTS DISTRICT; (B) ESTABLISHES THAT ONLY ONE OF THE TWO EVENTS MAY INVOLVE STREET CLOSURES; AND (C) ESTABLISHES THAT THE TWO EVENTS SHALL NOT TAKE PLACE ON SUCCESSIVE WEEKENDS; FURTHER, WAIVING ALL WAIVABLE FEES AS PERMITTED BY THE CODE OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA, AS AMENDED; SAID WAIVERS CONDITIONED UPON THE ORGANIZERS: (1) PAYING FOR ALL OTHER NECESSARY COSTS OF CITY SERVICES AND APPLICABLE FEES ASSOCIATED WITH SAID EVENT; (2) OBTAINING INSURANCE TO PROTECT THE CITY IN THE AMOUNT AS PRESCRIBED BY THE CITY MANAGER OR HIS' DESIGNEE; AND (3) COMPLYING WITH ALL CONDITIONS AND LIMITATION'S AS MAY BE PRESCRIBED BY THE CITY MANAGER OR HIS DESIGNEE. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The requirements contained in Section 54-171 (B) (1) , (2) and (3) of the Code of the City of Miami, as amended, which: (A) limits the number of events that may be held in the Coconut Grove Special Events District; (B) CITY COMMISSIO MEETING OF J U L 1 1 1996 Resolution No. 96- 532 establishes that only one of the two events held may involve street closures; and (C) establishes that the two events shall not take place on successive weekends, are hereby waived and the Third Annual Domestic Violence Awareness Walk-A-Thon, conducted by the Dade County Alliance Against Domestic Violence, to be held i i in the Coconut Grove Special Events District on October 26, 1996, is hereby permitted. Section 2. All waivable fees as permitted by the Code of the City of Miami, Florida, as amended, are hereby waived for said event. Section 3. The herein waivers are hereby conditioned upon the organizers (1) paying for all other necessary costs of Cityservices and applicable fees associated with said event; (2) pp obtaining insurance to protect the City in the amount as prescribed by the City Manager or his designee; and (3) complying i with all conditions and limitations as may be prescribed by the i City Manager or his designee. Section 4. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption. PASSED AND ADOPTED this 11th day q(f Ju y 1996.
