HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-96-0531J-96-872 7/11/96 RESOLUTION NO. 96-- 53 A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE j CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE AN AGREEMENT, IN A FORM ACCEPTABLE TO THE CITY ATTORNEY, WITH HOLTZMAN, KRINZMAN, EQUELS & FURIA, P.A., TO PROVIDE SPECIAL LEGISLATIVE CONSULTANT SERVICES CONCERNING A PARTIAL MODIFICATION OF RESTRICTIONS TO DEED NO.`19447 BETWEEN THE CITY OF MIAMI AND THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE INTERNAL IMPROVEMENT TRUST FUND OF THE STATE OF FLORIDA, WHICH DEED GOVERNS THE USE OF, WATSON ISLAND AND THE CONSIDERATION TO BE PAID BY THE CITY OF MIAMI TO THE STATE OF FLORIDA; ALLOCATING FUNDS THEREFOR IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $15,000.00 INCLUDING EXPENSES, FROM THE LEGISLATIVE LIAISON GENERAL FUND FOR SAID SERVICES. WHEREAS, the City of Miami ("City") has been negotiating with State of Florida officials regarding a Partial Modification of Restrictions to Deed No. 19447 betw6en the City and the Board of Trustees of the Internal Improvement Trust Fund of the State of Florida (the "State"), which deed governs the use of Watson Island and the consideration to be paid by the City to the State; and WHEREAS, the City seeks to retain the legislative consultant services of Holtzman, Krinzman, Equels & Furia, P.A. in order to provide assistance and expertise concerning the City's negotiations with State officials; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: MTY COMMISS MEETING Ok JUL 1119` Resolution No. 96- 53_ Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are hereby adopted by reference thereto and incorporated herein as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. The City Manager is hereby authorizedl' and directed to execute an agreement, in a form acceptable to the City Attorney, with Holtzman, Krinzman, Equels & Furia, P.A., to provide special legislative consultant services concerning a Partial Modification of Restrictions to Deed No. 19447 between the City of Miami and the Board of Trustees of the Internal Improvement Trust Fund of the State of Florida, which deed governs the use of Watson Island and the consideration to be paid by the City of Miami to the State of Florida, with funds therefor, in an amount not to exceed $15,000.00 for said services, including expenses, hereby allocated from the Legislative Liaison General Fund. Section 3. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption. PASSED AND ADOPTED this 11th da)of July 1996.
