CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA
INTER -OFFICE MEMORANDUM CAIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII17,
TO: The Honorable Mayor and Members DATE: JUN 2 6 1996 FILE:
of the City Commission
SUBJECT: Proposed Resolution
FROM: Ces 1 REFERENCES: Donation of Unclaimed Found
City er ENCLOSURES: Property or Evidence
RECOMMENDATION:
It is respectfully recommended that a Resolution authorizing the Chief of Police to donate
unclaimed found property or unclaimed evidence, with a value of $500.00 or less, to charitable
organizations, be approved.
BACKGROUND:
From time to time, the Police Department receives requests from charitable organizations seeking
donations of such items as; televisions, video players, etc. The Department has numerous items
within the Property Bureau that would suffice their needs. The items are either found property or
evidence that has gone unclaimed. As such, they are surplus supplies and are not needed by the
Department. By authorizing the Chief of Police to donate items of this nature, with a value of
$500.00 or less, it would expedite receipt of the property and put the surplus articles to good use.
