A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO
ACCEPT A GRANT, FOR AN ESTIMATED AMOUNT OF
$274,140, FROM THE STATE OF FLORIDA
DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH AND REHABILITATIVE
SERVICES TO FUND PROGRAMS FOR THE
DEVELOPMENTALLY DISABLED DURING THE PERIOD OF
JULY 1, 1996 THROUGH JUNE 30, 1997; FURTHER
AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE THE
NECESSARY DOCUMENT (S), IN A FORM ACCEPTABLE
TO THE CITY ATTORNEY, FOR ACCEPTANCE OF SAID
GRANT.
WHEREAS, as it has for the last 18 years, the Parks' and
Recreation Department, through its Programs for Persons with
Disabilities, has again applied to the State of Florida
Department of Health and Rehabilitative Services ("HRS") for
grant funds to support its programs for the coming year; and
WHEREAS, HRS is again expected to offer the City a grant in
the estimated amount of $274,140 for services to be provided to
developmentally disabled individuals during the period of July 1,
1996 through June 30, 1997; and
WHEREAS, said Grant .requires a 12.5% local match, or an
estimated amount of $34,267, which is available from the existing
General Fund Operating Budget of the Programs for Persons with
Disabilities Division; and

WHEREAS, HRS has requested that all grantees accept grants
and execute the necessary contracts no later than June 30, 1996;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the
Preamble to this Resolution are hereby adopted by reference
thereto and incorporated herein as if fully set forth in this
Section.
Section 2. The City Manager is hereby authorized to

accept a grant, for an estimated amount of $274,140, from the
State of Florida Department of Health Rehabilitative Services to

fund programs for the developmentally disabled during the period
of July 1, 1996 through June 30, 1997, said programs to be
provided by the Parks and Recreation Department through its
Programs for Persons with Disabilities.
Section 3. The City Manager is hereby further
authorized" to execute the necessary document(s), in a form
acceptable to the City Attorney, for acceptance of said Grant.
The herein authorization is further subject to compliance
with all requirements that may be imposed by the City
Attorney, including but not limited to those prescribed by
! applicable City Charter and Code provisions.

This Resolution shall become effective
