HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-96-0433RESOLUTION N0. 9 6- 433 A RESOLUTION CLASSIFYING SURPLUS OFFICE FURNITURE THAT WAS UTILIZED IN THE NOW VACATED CITY ADMINISTRATION BUILDING AS CATEGORY "A" SURPLUS STOCK; FURTHER DONATING SAME TO EIGHT NON-PROFIT COMMUNITY AGENCIES AS DESIGNATED HEREIN. WHEREAS, the City of Miami is in the process of consolidating many departments into the newly acquired Miami Riverside Center; and WHEREAS, part of said consolidation involved the vacation of the City Administration Building ("Administration Building") which was sold to Metropolitan Dade County; and WHEREAS, the various City departments which occupied the Administration Building have left behind office furniture, consisting of panels, desks and file cabinets, which are no longer required; and WHEREAS, said furniture was offered to various City departments and offices throughout the City; and WHEREAS, the remaining unclaimed furniture may now be classified as Category "A" Surplus Stock and be made available to non-profit community agencies; and WHEREAS, forty-two non-profit community agencies have been notified as to the availability of said furniture and eight agencies have indicated a need for said stock; CITY COMMISSION MEETING OF J U N 1 3 1996 Resolution No. 96- 433 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are hereby adopted by reference thereto and incorporated herein as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. Surplus office furniture that was utilized in the now vacated City Administration Building is hereby classified as Category "A" Surplus Stock. Section 3. Said Category "A" Surplus Stock is hereby donated to the following eight non-profit community agenciesl�: Association for the Development of the Exceptional Better Way of Miami, Inc. Catholic Community Services - Notre Dame Daycare Good Shepherd Childcare Haitian -American Civic Association Model City Crime Prevention Overtown Advisory Board The Black Archives History Foundation Section 4. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption. 1� The herein donations are subject to compliance with all requirements that may be imposed by the City Attorney, including but not limited to those prescribed by applicable City Charter and Code provisions. swt= 96- 433 June 1996. BACKGROUND The City. purchased the Miami Riverside Center building and is in the process of consolidating several offices in that building. In the process, the City vacated the City Administration Building which housed the departments of Building & Zoning, Fire Rescue, Planning, and Public Works. The furniture left behind by these departments, in accordance with provisions of Sec. 18-51.4. of the City Code, was first offered other City departments, such as the NET offices, fire stations and police stations. The remaining surplus was then offered to community agencies. tThe attached resolution formalizes the donation of the surplus furniture to these community agencies. 96- 433. iil
