A RESOLUTION APPROVING THE INSTALLATION OF
MARBLE STARS ON THE CALLE OCHO WALK OF FAME
IN HONOR SAMMY AND MARTHA FLORES.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI,
FLORIDA:
Section 1. The installation of marble stars on the Calle
Ocho Walk of Fame in honor of the following individuals is hereby
approved:
SAMMY
MARTHA FLORES
Section 2. This Resolution shall become effective
immediately upon its adoption. �.

SYLVESTER
Movie actor, well known by his action films
STALLONE:
such as Rocky, Rambo and The Specialists, which
were filmed on location in South Florida. Stallone is
owner of Miami's Planet Hollywood as well as the
most prestige property in coconut Grove.
SELENA:
Texas American Singer, Queen of the Texano music.
Slayed by orie of her employees. Her last record was
considered a major hit with the song:
"Dreaming of you"
She became an idol for the young Latin people, seeing
her beauty and talent suddenly destroyed at such a
young age. After her death she sold more than 2.5
million records in less than two weeks.
CARLOS VIVES:
Colombian born, King of the Vallenato music.
A Colombian folklore musician, which has been very
successfully accepted in al Latin America and the
United States. Carlos spends his time between his
native country and his beautiful home of Miami.
SAMY:
Cuban born, Hairstylist of the rich and famous, also
creator of beauty products SAMY Gold line.
SAMY has his own programs on national television

JUAN GAERIEL: Famous Mexican Composer and singer, King of the
Rancheras and the most known Mariachi. One of the
many stars that have moved to Miami, and is very
compromise with the Mexican Community of South
Florida to raise money through his concerts.
These concerts are to aide the Agriculture Mexican
Immigrants.
DYANGO: Jose Gomez Romero, International Spanish Singer
well known in Latin American for his deep voice
and dramatic style in interpreting his songs.
In 1973 he signed contract with EMI, and began his
successful career in South America. Winner of three
gold records and one platinum, representing Spain
in the OTI International Festival
MARTHA FLORES: Miami radio personality over the last 30 years, well
know in the Cuban Community for her involvement
in the Civic causes against the Communist Cuban
Regimen.
Show host and producer for W.R.H.C.
Nominated as an outstanding News Reporter by the
A.C.C.A. (1981,1982,and 1983)
