HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-96-0329J-96-4G0 5/22/96 RESOLUTION NO. `~ s ~ °~ 2 9 A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE FUNDING Ob' THE MODEL CITY CRIME PREVENTION SUB-COUNCIL IN AN { AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $15,000; ALLOCATING ~ FUNDS THEREFOR FROM THE LAtV ENFORCEMENT TRUST FUND, SUCH EXPENDITURE HAVING BEEN CERTIFIED BY THE CHIEF OF POLICE AS COMPLYING WITH FLORIDA STATE STATUTES, SECTION 932.7055, AS AMENDED. WHEREAS, Section 932.7055, Florida State Statutes, as amended, authorizes expenditure of forfeiture proceeds for law enforcement purposes not considered normal operating expenses; and 1 1 WHEREAS, the Police Department supports those groups that assist them in the fight against crime; and WHEREAS, the Model City Crime Prevention Sub-Council is such { a group; and WHEREAS, Sub-Council members assist the Police Department by patrolling the area and reporting any criminal activity that they may come upon; and WHEREAS, the funding will be used to off-set expenses associated with the continued operation of the Sub-Council; and WHEREAS, the funds the Police Department seeks to contribute to this organization have not been included in the narmal operating budget; and CITY CpMNLISSIOPl' IviEETLPIG OF' MAY 2 3 1996 Resolution No. 9~- 32~ _. WHEREAS, the Chief. of Police has recommended adoption of this Resolution and has determined that the expenditures proposed comply with Florida State Statutes, Section 932.7055, as amended; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are hereby adopted by reference thereto and incorporated herein as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. Funding for the Model City Crime Prevention Sub-Council, in an amount not to exceed $15,000, is hereby authorized, with funds therefor hereby allocated from the Law Enforcement Trust Fund from project number and expenditure code to be determined by the Chief of Police, such expenditure having been certified by the Chief of Police as complying with Florida State Statutes, Section 932.7055, as amended. Section 3. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption. PASSED AND ADOPTED this 23rd day'of Ma 1996. P.
