RESOLUTION NO.
A RESOLUTION RELATED TO THE CITY OF MIAMI IS
CENTENNIAL CELEBRATION TO BE CONDUCTED BY
MIAMI CENTENNIAL 196, INC., ("MC 19611) FROM
'JULY 27TH THROUGH JULY 28TH, 1996; PROVIDING
FOR THE CLOSURE OF DESIGNATED STREETS TO
THROUGH VEHICULAR TRAFFIC AND ESTABLISHING 'A
PEDESTRIAN MALL SUBJECT TO THE ISSUANCE OF
REQUIRED PERMITS BY THE POLICE DEPARTMENT AND
OTHERDEPARTMENTS REGULATING SUCH EVENTS;
FURTHER,_ ESTABLISHING AN AREA PROHIBITED TO
RETAIL PEDDLERS DURING THE PERIOD OF THE
EVENT; SUBJECT TO AND CONTINGENT UPON MC 961S
COMPLIANCE WITH SUCH CONDITIONS AND
LIMITATIONS AS MAY BE PRESCRIBED BY THE CITY
OF MIAMI.
WHEREAS, Miami Centennial 196, Inc., ("MC 19611) will
conduct
the City of Miami's Centennial Celebration ("Centennial
Celebration"), from July 27th through July 28th, 1996; and
WHEREAS, certain streets shall be closed to vehicular
traffic and vending restrictions shall apply during specified
dates and hours to help ensure the safety of the participants and
pedestrians attending said event; and
WHEREAS, the City Code, Chapter 39, Article II,
specifically provides inter alia, that Street Vending Franchises i
in the Downtown Miami Special Vending District may be displaced

during designated special events occurring in the area;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY is
OF MIAMI, FLORIDA:

Biscayne Boulevard from Chopin Plaza to Northeast 8th
Street.
Included in the herein closure are all streets,
avenues, alleys, ways and thoroughfares- which intersect
the enumerated areas delineated in this Section.
Section 3. Such closing of streets is subject to

Section 4. Pursuant to the provisions of
City Code
Sections 39-13 and 39-i7(5)(c)(6), all retail
peddlers'
occupational licenses issued under the provisions of
Chapters 31
and 39 of the City Code, as amended, shall not be
valid from
12:01 a.m: on Saturday, July 27th, 1996 to 5:00 a.m.
on Monday,
July 29th, 1996, on the above designated streets
and on all
intersecting streets for two blocks in all
directions
("Designated Area"). in the Designated Area, only business
entities, duly licensed by the City specifically for
said event
will be' permitted to advertise their products,
sell their
products, or distribute free samples to the public.
Section 5. The aforementioned authorizations
are hereby
subject to and contingent upon MC ' 96' s compliance with any and
all conditions and limitations as may be prescribed by the
Administration of the City of Miami.
Section 6. This Resolution shall become effective
immediately upon its adoption.
