HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-96-0227J-96-261 3/26/96 RESOLUTION NO. 9 6 2 2) 7 A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ACCEPT A GRANT, IN THE AMOUNT OF $100,000.00, FROM THE STATE OF FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION UNDER THE FLORIDA RECREATION DEVELOPMENT ASSISTANCE PROGRAM FOR CAPITAL IMPROVEMENTS TO CURTIS PARK; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE ALL NECESSARY DOCUMENTS, IN A FORM ACCEPTABLE TO THE CITY ATTORNEY, FOR THE ACCEPTANCE OF SAID GRANT. i I WHEREAS, the Parks and Recreation Department had submitted an application to the State of Florida, Department of Environmental Protection ("DEP"), seeking grant funds under the Florida Recreation Development Assistance Program for improvements to Curtis Park; and WHEREAS, said program provides funds to local governments for park acquisition, development, and redevelopment, providing i that grantees maintain affected properties for public outdoor recreation purposes; and i WHEREAS, said grant will augment Capital Improvements Project No. 33136, "Curtis Improvements", by providing funds for shoreline stabilization and the river walk in addition to City - funded renovations currently underway; and WHEREAS, the required local match for said grant will be provided from the Department of Environmental Resources Management ("DERM") in the amount of $100,000.00; G'ITY COMMISSION MEETING OF MAR 2 6 1996 Resolution No. 9�'" 2c�7 kr-- Fxu NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are hereby adopted by reference thereto and incorporated herein as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. The City Manager is hereby authorized to accept a grant, in the amount of $100, 000.00, from the State of Florida Department of Environmental Protection, under the Florida Recreation Development Assistance Program, to be used for capital improvements to Curtis Park. Section 3. The City Manager is hereby authorizedl/ to execute all necessary documents, in a form acceptable to the City Attorney, for the acceptance of said grant. Section 4. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption. PASSED AND ADOPTED this 26th day of March 1996. C� STEPHEN P.
