I would appreciate the re -appointment of Messrs. & Car Svendsen and Stuart Sorg who were ag pointees of Mr. evictor DeYurre. These are valuable members of the Board who bring significan knowledge and expertise. Since we are in a reorganization phase, I would be most appreciative if no new members are ap pointed for the next month or two until we can get ourselves better organized. Berley, Chairman Gentlemen: I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself and the current members of the Waterfront Advisory Board. I am the newly elected chairman. Before Rev. Davis' resignation. I was the vice chairman. Our members are: Capt. Dario Pedrajo, Capt. Bob Lewis, Messrs. John Brennan, Percy Aguila, Cai Svendsen and Stuart Sorg. Harry Horgan is an alternate member. Our meetings are the second Tuesday of each month and I would invite each of you to attend to show your interest in the waterfront. We had a very interesting meeting on November 13, 1995 and I would like to summarize some of the high points for you: • Because of the deteriorating condition of the Virrick Gym, Harry Horgan was appointed to meet with the appropriate people in the City management to determine what the plans are for the Gym's reconstruction and its time table. Harry will be monitoring this effort and reporting back to the board on on -going developments. • Because of the on -gong security issues relating to the waterfront, especially in the Dinner Key area, Stuart Sorg was appointed to work with CapL Serig of the police department to review what can be done to improve security and to achieve more effective police protection for this area of the waterfront. • To maximize citizen awareness of this board's activities, Raul de la Torre and I will review the list of organizatiom5 to whom our agenda is mailed. I hoo ro have the opportunity of meeting with each of you before our next meeting. Our objective is to be responsive to the City Commission and would invite your input as to those issues where you feel we might be most effective. I would be most appreciative if Messrs. Stuart Sorg and Cal Svendsen are re -appointed. These gentlemen were Mr. DeYurre's appointees and Mr. Carollo appointed others. Messrs. Sorg and Svendsen have previously served on this Board and have been positive contribu- tors to its operation. The appointment to fill these vacancies will appear as an agenda item for the September 25 meeting and I would greatly appreciate it if one of you appointed Mr. Sorg and the other appointed Mr. Svendsen.
