HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-96-0141� f4nL J-96-49 1/3/95 RESOLUTION NO. 6— 141 A RESOLUTION CLASSIFYING 10,000 ROUNDS OF .38 CALIBER AMMUNITION AS CATEGORY "A" SURPLUS STOCK, SHOULD SUCH AMMUNITION BECOME AVAILABLE; FURTHER, STIPULATING THAT IN SUCH CASE, SAID AMMUNITION SHALL BE DONATED TO THE CITY OF WEST MIAMI, FLORIDA, SUCH DONATION TO BE VALID AND EFFECTIVE BETWEEN JANUARY 25, 1996 AND JANUARY 24, 1997, UPON THE EXECUTION OF THE APPROPRIATE RELEASE DOCUMENTS; SAID AMMUNITION TO BE USED BY THE POLICE DEPARTMENT OF THE CITY OF WEST MIAMI, FLORIDA, IN ITS EFFORTS TOWARD DETERRING CRIME. WHEREAS, the Miami Police Department has a surplus supply of .38 caliber ammunition that is no longer needed; and WHEREAS, the City of West Miami,, Florida, is in need of this ammunition to be used by its Police Department; and WHEREAS, it is the intention of the City Commission that the 10,000 rounds of .38 caliber ammunition be declared Category "All surplus stock and donated to the City of West Miami, Florida; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are hereby adopted by reference thereto and incorporated herein as if fully set forth in this Section. Ten thousand (10,000) rounds of surplus Miami Police Department ammunition are hereby classified as Category "A" surplus stock. Section 3. Within the period of January 25, 1996 and January 24, 1997, said Category "A" surplus stock, if available, is hereby donated, upon the execution of the appropriate release documents, to the City of West Miami, Florida, said ammunition to be used by the Police Department of West Miami in its efforts toward deterring crime. Section 4. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption. BACKGROUND: The City of Miami Police Department is currently in possession of 10,000 rounds of .38 caliber ammunition. The Miami Police Department, at this time, has no use for this ammunition, and as such they are considered surplus. Bids submitted past such deadline and/or submitted to any other location or office shall be deemed non -responsive and will be rejected. Ordinance No. 10062, as amended, established a goal of awarding 51 % of the City's total dollar volume of all expenditures for all good and services to Black, Hispanic and Women Minority Business Enterprises on an equal basis. Minority and women vendors who are interested in submitting bids and who are not registered with the City as minority or women vendors are advised to contact the City Procurement Office located at 300 Biscayne Blvd. Way, Suite 210, (305) 579-6845. Section 18-52.1(h) of the City Code, as amended, states that the City Commission may offer to a responsible and responsive local bidder, whose primary office is located in the City of Miami, the opportunity of accepting a bid at the low bid amount, if the original bid amount submitted by the local vendor does not exceed 1 10 percent of the lowest other responsible and responsive bidder. The City reserves the right to request copies of the occupational license, professional and/or trade licenses, corporate chart and tax return and any other documents to verify the location of the firm's primary office. All vendors whose primary office is located within the City of Miami must provide a copy of their City Occupational License with their bids. The City Manager may reject all bids and readvertise.
