RECOMMENDATION•
It is respectfully recommended that the City Commission approve
the attached resolution authorizing the fueling of City vehicles
at Dade County fueling facilities at the same established
contractual terms and conditions agreed to in our Letter of
Understanding dated June 24, 1994, in the amount of $740,000 for
Fiscal Year 1995-1996.
BACKGROUND:
The Department of General Services Administration and Solid Waste
(GSA/SW), Vehicle and Equipment Administration (VEA) Division has
one central fueling facility which is geographically limited in
its ability to efficiently and cost-effectively provide fueling
services to all City vehicles.
Metropolitan Dade County has numerous automated fueling
facilities located strategically throughout Dade County that
provide fueling services to other Dade County municipalities and
State agencies operating within Dade County. These facilities
are open seven (7) days a week and operate twenty-four hours a
day.
Opening and operating additional fuel service stations to satisfy
all City fueling requirements would not be as cost-effective as
contracting out these interagency services with Metropolitan Dade
County.
Funds for these fueling services are available from the
Department of General Services Administration and Solid Waste,
Vehicle and Equipment Administration Division, Fiscal Year 1995-
1996 Operating Budget, Account Code No. 420901-715, Project Code
No. 509000.
