HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-96-0116 ~,, J-96-410 2/29/96 RESOLUTION NO.~ s _ ~, s A RESOLUTION RELATING TO TEMPORARY SPECIAL EVENTS; AUTHORIZING THE CITY TO UTILIZE UNIMPROVED PUBLIC PROPERTY LOCATED AT THE EAST CORNER OF SOUTH BAYSHORE DRIVE AND PAN AMERICAN DRIVE, IN THE VICINITY OF THE COCONUT GROVE CONVENTION CENTER, AS A TEMPORARY SPECIAL EVENT (PARKING) SITE, NOT TO EXCEED 75 SUCH EVENTS; SUBJECT TO THE CITY OBTAINING A CLASS I SPECIAL PERMIT FOR EACH EVENT; AND PROVIDING FOR AUTHORIZATION PERIOD. WHEREAS, Section 906.9(c) of Ordinance No. 11000, the Zoning Ordinance of the City of Miami, authorizes the City Commission to increase the number of temporary special events allowed per site, per year; and WHEREAS, the Acting Zoning Administrator has opined, during today's public hearing on this subject (see R-96-115), that said Section 906.9 (c) also applies to parking, and authorizes the City Commission to increase the number of special events on public and private property; and WHEREAS, the City Commission, after careful consideration of this matter, deems it advisable and in the best interest of the general welfare of the City of Miami and its inhabitants to alleviate potential parking problems during events in the Coconut Grove Convention Center by increasing the permissible number of temporary special (parking) events, per site, as hereinafter set forth; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings Preambles to this Resolution are hereby contained in the adopted by reference CITY COMMISSION A~lEETING OF FE®2 9 1996 Resolution No. 96- 116 ~, i thereto and incorporated herein as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. An Increase in the number of temporary special events, for parking use, is hereby granted as set forth below. Section 3. The City of Miami, is hereby authorized to utilize unimproved public property located at the east corner of South Bayshore Drive and Pan American Drive, in the vicinity of the Coconut Grove Convention Center, as a Temporary Special Event (parking) site. Section 4. The herein authorization, which terminates on December 31, 1996, is limited to seventy-five (75) such events, and is also subject to the City obtaining a Class I Special Permit for each event. Section 5. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption. PASSED AND ADOPTED this 29th day of Fe~,ruary 1996 .
