HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-96-0083.4I 7 i J-96-186 2/26/96 RESOLUTION NO. 8 3.4 A RESOLUTION EXPRESSING DEEPEST SYMPATHY AND SINCEREST CONDOLENCES OF THE CITY COMMISSION I ON BEHALF OF THE CITY OF MIAMI AND ITS CITIZENS TO THE FAMILY AND FRIENDS OF MARIO DE LA PENA, UPON HIS UNTIMELY DEATH. WHEREAS, Mario de la Pena, along with Armando Alejandre, Jr., Carlos Costa and Pablo Morales, was a volunteer for the humanitarian organization "Brothers to the Rescue"; and WHEREAS, on Saturday, February 24, 1996, Mr. de la Pena and the others, all perished when their two single -engine Cessnas were downed by the Cuban Air Force while flying over international waters, on a Brothers to the Rescue mission to assist possible Cuban rafters crossing the Straits of Florida; and WHEREAS, it is the desire of the City Commission, on behalf of the City of Miami and its citizens, to express its deepest sympathy to the family and friends of Mario de la Pena; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: CITY COivession MEETING OF FEB 2 6 1996 Resolution No. u - 83A. Section 1. On behalf of the citizens of the City of Miami, the City Commission hereby conveys to the family and friends of Mario de la Pena, its deepest sympathy and sincerest condolences, upon his untimely death. Section 2. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption. PASSED AND ADOPTED this 26th day of February , 1996. f STEPAN P.
