HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-96-004949 RESOLUTION NO. 9 r A RESOLUTION RELATED TO CARNAVAL MIAMI 1996; AUTHORIZING THE RELAXATION OF TIME LIMITATIONS ON THE DISPLAY OF FIREWORKS TO ALLOW THE STAGING OF PYROTECHNIC DISPLAYS UNTIL 12:00 MIDNIGHT ON MARCH 8, 1996 FOR A SPONSORS RECOGNITION PARTY AT THE VIZCAYA MUSEUM AND GARDENS, AND FOR CARNAVAL MIAMI INTERNACIONAL AT THE MILDRED AND CLAUDE PEPPER BAYFRONT PARK ON MARCH 9, 1996, SUBJECT TO THE ISSUANCE OF APPROPRIATE PERMITS FROM THE DEPARTMENT OF FIRE -RESCUE; CONDITIONING ALL APPROVALS AND AUTHORIZATIONS HEREIN UPON THE ORGANIZERS PAYING FOR ALL NECESSARY COSTS OF CITY SERVICES AND APPLICABLE FEES ASSOCIATED WITH SAID EVENTS AND OBTAINING INSURANCE TO PROTECT THE CITY IN THE AMOUNT PRESCRIBED BY THE CITY MANAGER OR HIS DESIGNEE. WHEREAS, the Kiwanis Club of Little Havana will conduct the Carnaval Miami, consisting of various events during the period March 8 and 9, 1996; and WHEREAS, the Kiwanis Club of Little Havana has requested an extension of the fireworks deadline to allow the staging of pyrotechnic displays until 12.00 midnight in connection with a sponsor recognition party at Vizcaya Museum and Gardens on E March 8, 1996, and for Carnaval Miami Internacional at i tl Mildred and Claude Pepper Bayfront Park on March 9, 1996; the i G 1 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY -0F MIAMI, FLORIDA: CITY COri'IIaSSION MEETING OF JAN 2.5 1996 Resolution No. 4 96- 49 The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are hereby adopted by reference thereto and incorporated herein as' if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. The relaxation of time limitations on the display of fireworks to allow the staging of pyrotechnic displays is hereby authorized until 12:00 midnight on Friday, March 8, 1996 at the Vizcaya Museum and Gardens for a sponsor recognition party, and on Saturday, March 9, 1996, at the Mildred and Claude Pepper Bayfront Park for Carnaval Miami Internacional, subject to the issuance of appropriate permits from the Department of Fire -Rescue. Section 3. The herein approvals and authorizations are hereby conditioned upon the organizers paying for all costs of City services associated with said event and obtaining insurance to protect the City in the amount as prescribed by the City Manager or his designee.
