CITY CLERK - 2 - Ha CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA INTER -OFFICE MEMORANDUM Honorable Mayor and Members it--91996 TO: of the City Commission DATE : FILE Resolution confirming SUa,ECT : the Election of two ( 2 ) Employee Members to the Civil Service Board FROM, Cesa O REFERENCES. City er ENCLOSURES: , RECOMMENDATION It is respectfully recommended that the City Commission adopt the attached resolution confirming the election of two (2) employee members to the Civil Service Board, commencing January 12, 1996 for a term to expire on January 11, 1998. Sec. 36, Civil Service, of the Charter and Code of the City of Miami provides that two (2) of the five (5) Civil Service Board Members shall be elected by employees with Civil Service status and confirmed by the Commission. BACKGROUND The following two (2) civil service employees won the Civil Service Board Elections held on December 14 and 15, 1995 and must be confirmed by the Commission. NAME Martin P. Garcia Orlando Llamas i The regular biweekly meetings of the Civil Service Board for the month of January were originally scheduled for January 2, 16', and 30, 1996; however, because the January 11, 1996 Commission meeting was rescheduled, the Board will not be able to meet on January 16, 1996. To ensure continuity in the seating of the new Board, it j becomes essential that the confirmation of the elected employee members be made at the meeting of January 25 as it is the first Commission meeting following the expiration date of the current elected Board members. Additionally, if the confirmation is made at the January 25 Commission meeting, the Board would be able to hold its regularly scheduled meeting of January 30. Attachment: Proposed Resolution
