CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA
INTER -OFFICE MEMORANDUM
TO : The Honorable Mayor and
Members of the City Commission
FROM : RX..-)
Edward M q
City Manag
DATE : 3. 3 S FILE
SUBJECT: Proposed Emergency Ordinance
Amending Section 5 of
Ordinance 6145
REFERENCES:
ENCLOSURES:
It is respectfully recommended that the City Commission adopt the attached
emergency Ordinance amending Section 5 of Ordinance No. 6145, adding, increasing
and redefining required fees to cover the enforcement of the South Florida Building
Code.
The adoption of the attached emergency ordinance is required in order for the City of
Miami to continue to provide the level of service the citizens of Miami deserve, as well
as protect lives. The cost of properly enforcing the South Florida Building Code
continues to increase, and it has become necessary to increase some fees to reflect
the true cost of providing the service. The urgency of the increase is to cover the costs
as quickly as possible for the remaining of the fiscal year.
The Building and Zoning Department has found that various fees need to be properly
identified in our fee schedule. These fees are required by code and are already a part
of fee schedules in other municipalities throughout the County. The department is
also taking this opportunity to clarify certain fees that are already part of the
schedule.
